yeah its like monitors and everything else. I had AKG 240s once upon a time but they were just too shy on bass for me.
I then switched to the DT880s which i much prefer, been using them ever since!

Agree so some how I will have to try them out lol - my local Guitar Center store is not going to like me anymore

I have the 701s and the DT880s and I find the DT880s slightly more comfortable, and a snugger fit. I also think that they sound more accurate and my mixes usually translate better when I mix with them.

I do indeed, and they are very comfortable.
They are relatively light on bass so you have to be careful with how they translate but used in conjunction with a good set of speakers they're great. Unbelievable midrange detail.
SO at this point if I'm hearing this correctly we have three best recommendation:
1. AKG 701s
2. DT 880s
3. Lordi - which I'm not familiar at all with (but Raphie is )
Anybody else can suggest something different?

Yeah, definitely go with the 250-ohm version, unless you have a very good headphone amp. I have the 600-ohm version and most audio interfaces don't have the juice to adequately push them, so if you're planning on using your soundcard's headphone out, the 250-ohm version is what you want. Don't even bother with the 32-ohm version (designed for mp3 players, basically).
