Here's the situation now:
I'm allowing him to use one of my older tracks which he likes... I din't mind changing that one, since I don't intend on promoting that one or putting it onto any new albums...

But he took a listen to my newest track, one that I haven't even put up on my mp3.com site yet, and he says he wants to use that one as well... In my personal opinion, it's the best pure trance track I've made so far, so I don't really wanna ruin it... So I'm thinking twice about changing that one... as far as money goes, we still have to negotiate whether I want royalties from each CD he sells or just a lump sum once we're finished producing... I think I might go for the lump sum, cuz I don't think he'll sell very many albums... it's more of a demo CD, since he's looking to get signed to a record label...
But anyway, do u guys think I should let him use my newer track?


Oh yeah, and all my tracks are copyrighted, so I don't have to worry about that...

I think you should sell to him, maybe his album becomes a bestseller or so, and if a bigtime record company sees your name on the album, you'll get a contract with them.
If not, you'll have enough money to buy new equipment to make better trance tracks that will get you a contract, I'm positive, you have talent

Yes I agree with JD Dark sell him this track, cause you have talent and produces many more better trance traxx in the future. Good luck.

wow. you really know how to use your stuff. what kind of synth do you have, is it just a workstation like a korg?
or just a simple basic synth? ... just need to figure out how to use cubase myself, this is exactly the kind of thing i want to be doing.
the transition to c minor is my favorite part (of Sound Of Life), experiment more with minor keys.. you could produce some really epic stuff, major keys can be the slippery slope to cheese..

your work with the drums on the offbeat lead in (between the 4 and 1 beats) is very impressive and creative

keep up the outstanding work... we need a thread helping software-dumbasses like myself to understand how to use cubase

I use a Yamaha CS6x with my computer... I got it specifically because I'd heard that it's really good for trance music. It's got some nice epic sounds... If you're in the market for one, this is a good starter. If you're willing to pay more, I'd recommend the Clavia Nord Lead or the Novation SuperNova... now that's the hard stuff

I'd say a forum for producers would be a good idea, so we can help and get help from people who know what they're doing...

wow you have a great talent. i wish i could do that. personally i think you should sell the track to him. i think with the money and the equipment upgrade, its only gonna help you in the long run. this is only one of the many successful tracks that you will make. just don't forget about us here at trancEaddict when you hit it big ok? good luck.
