It did help Ryan Giggs play on at the highest level until he was 40 though, which is some achievement.

Ya I didn't add in the fact when those ligaments tore they shot into my knee cap giving me a locked knee. I had to do an emergency surgery first just to cut out all of those ligaments stuck in the knee cap. Then due to the trauma they had to do separate surgeries on each ligament. Took a year to do. Everytime I was able to walk again I had to do another surgery which put me back on to a couch and start learning how to bend my knee again. It was an intense year. I basically sat on a couch high on perc's for a full year, spending every day in physio and icing icing icing.

It took me a long time but I can now do anything I was able to do before the accident. The doctors surgeons and therapists were all top notch guys and were amazing. I created great relationships with them so now when I have minor injuries they treat me for free.

Fuck me. Eric, you just sound like a crock. Some people's bodies just can't handle it.

It was because of the artificial turf I was playing on. I was playing indoor and we were playing at one of the worst arenas. The artificial turf was that cheap carpet style shit. My team was killing this other team. I saw it as an opportunity to up my points. I was going full blast on the last man back, and when I made my move my toe got stuck in the turf. My body was going full blast already so the momentum ended up pushing my body forward with my leg locked in the turf. It hyper extend pretty bad and I freaked out
Looking at my knee bent the opposite way. Stupidly I tried to twist out of the position and my knee dislocated everything popped and when I hit the ground my knee popped back into place but it ripped all of the ligaments and got them trapped into my knee. I thought I was fine because I didn't feel too much pain. My coach made me sit out anyways. At the end of the game when I went to stand I noticed I couldn't move my leg. Drove myself to the hospital and you know the rest now .

It was a shit injury. Totally bad luck. Knee injuries happen a lot in indoor soccer though

Fucking hell That's terrifying, man. I've always been afraid I'll fuck up one of my knees somehow. Most of my family has, mostly through skiing over the years, and mine sometimes make odd sounds when I'm doing squats at the gym, but to actually have your fucking knee bend the wrong way... Ugh.

I know artificial turf is better for the environment than regular grass, but fuck it sucks to play on. I remember playing on it (outside) in High School and trying to slide tackle somebody. Somehow my other leg got stuck (I think? Really not sure what happened, it was years ago and a bit of a blur in the moment) and somehow I ended up sliding with my shin down (no shin pads, this was gym class, not a real game) and needing to get medical attention due to non-stop bleeding and those fucking rubber beads stuck inside my wounds.

Real grass or a gym floor. Fuck artificial turf.

Ya artificial turf is brutal to fall on never mind sliding. If you fall on that crap it rips you apart and next thing you know you're in the shower rolled up in a ball at the back of the stall like a rape victim because of the water hitting the wound.

The turf we were playing on didn't even have the rubber pellets it was
Basically like a carpet. Thank god they finally tore that place down

If you're playing coed I wouldn't worry too much. You see a lot of injuries in competitive because everyone is going pretty hard. In rec (which I play in now for fun with friends) I barely see people get injured unless they are just generally out of shape and trying something physical for the first time in years.

My mom got several ribs broken playing in an amateur soccer league with other thirty and forty somethings.

Apparently those ladies don't mess around.
