Hapamoto, I believe you may have somewhere in your head imbedded that Pioneers are going to sound better or be better for djing.
I know that Pioneer has good reputation overall as a electronics and audio company, but when it comes down to the ball, and you compare it to specific models in a certain category, it may not cut it.
Sony may have best in a specific type of equipment, while a different company has better model in a different type of equipment.
For instance, we all know that best of best on cd players are DENON.
Some people feel that it may be pioneer, but if you want %100 quality, its denon. Not saying that Pioneer is bad, is just if you put them side by side its a different story

Everyone who has tried both Pioneer SEDJ500 and Technics RPDJ1200A say that the Technics have a more balanced sound and cleaner bass, even at high volumes.

I tried the Pioneer SEDJ500 and I thought they were imbalanced. I also use Sony MDR7506 and Sony 700DJ

Hey guys... um, if you all are curious in technics vs. pioneer, why not read the page in my signature??

Lemme try and extrapolate a few things...

*If you are interested in high-isolation headphones and are willing to take a chance on the grounds of, 'let's see if these work for me so i can try and save my hearing', try the HD280 Pro or Ultrasone HFI-650

*If you want what most agree is the best traditional DJ headphone out there, get the Technics, whatever color looks best (they're all built the same...)

*If you want a headphone that is designed for studio use, get the V6 or HD280 Pro

*If you want something that is inexpensive, durable, is a great studiophone and a good beginner DJphone, get the V6's and save up to buy the Technics, cause those would work better for larger/louder gigs. The V6's should also be great for home use, and you don't have to sell them when you get the Technics, cause they each have their niche (recording, studio, etc.).

*Try buying the Beyerdynamic pads for the V6's, those make em even better.

*If you just want something cheap and don't care about selling it to upgrade, and want some cheap isolation and bass, check out the Sennheiser HD212 Pro
http://www.geocities.com/magicthyse/hpsenn.html#hd212

*No matter what, get and use some Etymotic ER-20's www.etymotic.com

*Always check shopping.yahoo.com for prices if you are in the states or Canada

So, will someone try some Ultrasone HFI-650's and see if they are a good DJphone?? please?? www.meier-audio.com

I have used the V700's for over two years. I am still on my first pair that has more bailing wire and duct tape on them then you could imagine. Construction materials on these are the worst. Some dude mentioned the hinges cracking on the 600"s, well no difference on the 700's The leather earcups are cracked and in absolute horrible condition. I am older in age than 90% of most on this forum. I EXPECTED this from a sony product!!! I bought a new set about 8 months ago but dont get the comfort from my old set. the new pair is too tight and doesn't allow me to move freely. They are my computer set.

Don't rely on other peoples advice for choice. Take it and use it, but don't base it on YOUR decision.

Thank you bachatu, i have not run into any1 that has tried both the SE-DJ5000 and the technics rpdj1200, that is basically what i have been looking for, some1 that has tried both..

gluegun, your webpage covers the other pioneer dj headphones (HDJ1000) i believe, but not the sedj5000.

every product review i have read on the technics and the pioneer headphones seem to boast how good each product is but i have yet to run into a product comparison, and now it basically boils down to price because both seem satisfactory for $100. Well, although you have all put down your personal preferances, at this point (since no1 has really convinced me yet of going either way) i'm just gonna have to try them formyseft and let you guys know what i ended up choosing. unfortunately this will probably lead me to end up picking one and taking it home, using it and then if not liking it, hope that the store will take it back.. since i can't think of a store that sells headphones that has them all on display to test out. so, thanks again everyone!

alright i pretty much had enough of this sony 700 craking crap. i've had my mdr-v700's for awhile now. nothing has craked on them psychically and sound quality wise they are just as good as the first day i got them. and yes i do spin at parties and such, i just don't abuse them. i use them hardcore like a dj should but i don't treat them like crap. i can understand given they are a buck fifty or more depending on where ur from that they should last but at that price you should also take care for them. the only reason i plan on discontinuing use on them is because i got them signed by pvd and the signature is weaing. i plan on getting the new pioneer phones. if the new pioneers weren't around i would get another pair of the 700s. but thats my two cents. peace off

im glad you like 'em.. im not saying that i think they're bunk or anyone else shouldn't like them.. all i said was that "I" have had bad experience w/ that particular model of sony headphones.. maybe i've been unfortunate and ran into 3 different pairs of v700's that cracked in the same places and whatnot.. who knows, maybe those 3 dj's got together one day and decided to start a conspiracy against sony; which in turn would drop v700 depend, in turn lowering the price to the now affordable 99.99.. but who really gives a fuck, you like 'em and i respect that.. can't believe u kept using a piar of headphones after PvD signed them.. that would be like playing b-ball w/ a ball that Kobe bryant signed..
