I like to think that you can measure the quality of your life in blowjobs received.

Or just be smart with your money. Fuck working harder. I really do feel bad for people who just don't have the intelligence or skill set to do anything other than menial jobs or hard labour...gammas, deltas, and epsilons.

Didn't you buy your first car at 30?

I was 32, actually. It wouldn't have been a very smart money move for me to own a car while I was in school, paying for gas and insurance, etc. Instead I was able to save that money for the down payment when it made more sense to own a car, and also enjoy things like travel and party at the same time.

I had a car in the past, that my mother bought me as a 21st birthday gift, but I sold it when I started school.

Fell for what? All you've done is help illustrate my point about working smarter, not harder. I'm 34 and debt free with a shit ton of money in the bank. I owe some of that to circumstances of course, but a lot of it to not being a moron with my money. I don't know very many people my age who are debt free, or even close to it, because they all succumb to the pressure to spend their money on crap they really don't need or doesn't suit their lifestyle.

Big pimpin spend the cheese.

Debt free since a long time ago here. I thought Jimmy worked at a warehouse?

You have to realize I'm slightly drunk, and feel like arguing against the sly level bullshit.

Doesn't your provider do menial labour?

I think Jenny's got a good point. The majority of people I know seem to be terrible with their money. I had a spell where I was utterly stone-cold broke, to the point where I had to pick the days of the week I could afford a bus ticket. Those days are a distant memory now but they taught me a hell of a lot about what you really need to enjoy life and how being resourceful and thoughtful can make your money go a lot further. People are just too soft or too fucking stupid to make that extra effort.

I work with lots of young girls - girls in their early - mid 20s, and most of them have debt. And not even a lot of debt, in my opinion, but worst of all it's consumer debt.

These girls...kids...figure they're having fun now and they'll just pay later, not even taking into account that they're paying interest on top of it while they continue to rack up more debt. Not to mention they have no idea what's going to happen in their future - what if they lose their jobs, or get injured at work, or some other life event happens that they haven't planned for? So stupid.

The point is, if they were smarter with their money, they could still do most of the fun stuff they want to do now, without basically throwing money away at the same time and fucking themselves later.

It's absolutely insane to me, to think of giving the bank tens of thousands of dollars in interest when you could easily be saving most of that!

Anyhow, not really career advice, but it's part of the whole picture when factoring in work/life balance and being able to enjoy both. Especially if you're going to work part time. You really don't have to give up anything if you know what you're doing with your money. Just speaking to the cons of going to work at the clinic. There is potential to gain so much more than just money and work experience.

Plus, there must be the potential to pick up shifts and over time? I know people at the top of their payscale that are technically hired into part time lines, but know how to work the system so that they bring in well over 100 grand a year. edit --> WITHOUT working like dogs.

I'm just trying to pick a fight.

I do work like a dog, but that is what comes with owning a business. Private school isn't going to be cheap for my little chinklet.

Just quit faking the funk though. I know broke. My crackhead poetry speaks for itself in tomes. At the same time, some of those menial labour people (I don't include myself in those, yet relate to them as I've done it) people are worth more than their own salt. Nursing could be said to be menial labour. Is it an easy job where you don't get your hand dirty?
