True, it's just a shame that the Elektron machines are somewhat basic in sounds. Still I'd love to be able to have full zero latency DAW integration and that alone will be worth it.
I really don't know what Korg, Roland and Yama have been playing at for the last 15 years, since this integration became a common request.

not against the clock, he obviously pre-programmed it. but great musical jam on inexpensive gear - you usually just get a collection of noises. must take a lot of skill to recreate something like this in itself.
fucking LOVE that bass especially the second pattern at 47 seconds... very simon berry-esque. epic as fuck.

True, there's a great interview from years ago with Brian Eno where he's going on about there being nothing worse than making music by starting at a screen and clicking a mouse. Cubicle music I think he called it lol.
At the same time, hardware is fun but really, it's just not practical to not use a daw with all the features and possibilities we now take for granted.
You've got a point but if dance music isn't fundamentally a "beat" (or better said a groove), then I don't know what is. But yeah, they're not doing anything that is musically amazing, and actually nothing that wasn't done 25 years ago.
you can't groove running a quantized sequence. So no, it isn't groove. It is terrible musicians haphazardly putting shit places they don't quite understand the end result and taking way to long to do it. It would take about 4 sedconds to actually play something that could groove instead of pressing buttons but i'm pretty sure they couldn't hammer a key on the quarter note in time let alone do something interesting
button pushing is just really lame at least in the musical sphere. Look at how fast i can program something that someone could play in 1/10 the time. I also don't get why everyone doing this is so fucking ugly.

Well technically you can make a groove running a quantized sequence, just not hard quantized to equal divisions or measure. Any daw allows you to quantize to groove, but I digress.
however there are tricks you can do to add grove timing; for insance on my dusty old tribe, the stereo pads when triggered, cut off the mono pads but the timing is slightly off (by design) so you can start introducing some groove. Same with resmapling and timing of hits. The new tribes (along with a bunch of other grooveboxes, actually allow you to use and edit groove templates.
I do agree that none of these are doing that so yeah, there's no real groove to them, but it's simply not true to say you can't get groove going from a drum machine. the functionality is there.
