Gouryella, I admit has to be one of the stupidest videos.
And as for Ligaya, I don't see how you don't get that it doesn't have a story line. It's trying to deliver a message. I would write out a whole interpretation, but I'll leave that fun up to you.

it would have been cool if they did somethingg in space or something like in nature. just something cool. the video doesnt flow at all...like the climax of the buildup has a iguana eating a beetle...that is so gay.. i could make it so much better. the vocals are pretty but dont make any fucking sense at all, overall its like a bunch of crap that is ok on its own, put together, trying to make something super cool, which in my opinion sucks and in your opinions it should suck too

i respect all ur opinions, but i have to agree more with wookieslut and beema...i dont think of robotics when i hear such a wonderfull music as tenshi...the vids dont even agree with the REAL meaning of trance..trance is when ure soul is uplifted to someother world, DREAMWORLD....watching robotics and lsning to that kinda music dont match at all!
i didnt like the vocals in ligaya either, although im a vocal trance addict! i just love vocals, in ligaya, the lady's voice is damn sweet, but i have to say that they(the vocals) dont fit at all...
after all thats just my op. |
Mano, you missed the point of BOTH videos, it seems. What Tenshi and Ligaya are trying to do is deliver a message that what is in the video is precisely where the state of the world is heading in NOW. They are saying that if we continue along our path, then we will no longer be human, no longer have emotions, that we will no longer enjoy what we did before because all our synapses will be as synthetic as the transistors on a computer chip. They are telling us that if that happens, there will no longer be any trance, and that is a scary thought. They mock current society because it throws away art and beauty like trance for technology and the cold hum of the electron, instead of the warm touch of a loved one.
The videos are meant to scare us, man. That's what is beautiful about them - the fact that they managed to make something so incredibly meaningful into a music video. There are enough videos that show 'the nature of trance;' basically people grooving away at some club or rave event. But if we only pay attention to what is good, then we will forever lose that which is unacceptable - the progressive deterioration and squelching of our own humanity.
Don't look at the video so plainly and superficially - there's a lot more to it than pretty special effects. Trance is about unity, and those two videos, especially Tenshi, convey that idea better than any shots of Sensation or Innercity or Dancevalley.
Just my two kopeks.

that's the point! ...it is social criticism - you should open your eyes where computer technology can lead us to!

That post was just brilliant. It's such a relief to have someone else besides me understand them also. Tenshi and Ligaya are my favorite videos (and some of my favorite tracks). They mean so much more than just some dude walking around and looking at plants and stuff. And about the beetle being eaten by the iguana.. IT WASN'T A REAL IGUANA. IT WAS A MACHINE. That was the WHOLE POINT and you completely missed it. :/
