Nope. To be honest I've no interest in learning, but it's effectively the only thing holding me back from a management position now, so I figure it's time to bite the bullet.

Is that actually a requirement for a management position? What for?

I work in an area related to construction and projects involve sites all over the country. It's often a requirement to attend in person to see the building where work is going to take place, meet the other contractors and so forth.

Ah, okay. I suppose that would be a bit of a pain via public transport.

I find that quite mind blowing that you don't know how to drive jack.

Not a criticism as such, I'm just amazed with all the travelling that you've done that needing or wanting the freedom of a car never came in to the equation.

I was desperate to learnt o drive even as a kid and my parents would let me drive on private roads when i could barely reach the pedals.

How the fuck do you get around places like ibiza or france without a car? I get it in Paris, Berlin, London, Toronto where public transport is good, but in the more rural places or on holiday in places like the USA or Mexico or South America, it's juts such a fucking ballache to not be able to drive.

Driving is fun, but I hate traffic and the money it costs to own and maintain a car today. As inconvenient as it is to not have a car in Florida, I got rid of mine earlier this year. I plan on moving to a more walkable/bikable city soon, but in the meantime I deal with it. One major plus is that I've lost 30 pounds and kept it off since. ARE YOU READING THIS JUAN?!?!?!?

I've been saying it for many years now, but I really need to get back in touch with and nurture my creative side. Was going through my old sketch books and art projects, paintings, etc. and felt sad that I'd somehow just totally stopped paying attention to that part of myself.

So yeah, just that really.

True it is actually fucking expensive to maintain a car. In LA is basically impossible to live without a car and the few people I know who do it, either end u having a very limited experience of the city or end up spending a fortune on Uber/Taxis. You're fucked either way.

But I just couldn't live without the freedom of knowing, whatever country I'm in or wherever I am, I can hire a car and fuck off somewhere.

I'm not sure where your impression that I've done loads of travelling comes from. I try and go somewhere new every year but I wouldn't classify myself as "a traveller". Usually it's just city breaks, although we had no trouble in the Polish mountains without a car this summer.

Honestly, I really have no interest in driving. I live right in the city centre and everything is in walking distance. Work is a 15 minute bus journey away. I don't plan to get a car of my own once I've gained my license. I should be able to use company cars or hire something as and when I need it.

Well, I've just landed my dream job, got my doctorate, and found out Earl Grey Tea is delicious, so I'm more like "What's happening and what do I do now?"

I'm still recovering from the shock... All my life I thought I hated tea!
