Well before I choose what side I'm on, I'd like to say I approach all issues based on the human condition.. What I mean is ultimately what matters in life is quality of life, and I try to treat issues from that angle. A humanist I is

Religion - Left
Economy - Mixed economy, MIDDLE. Still unsure of exactly where I stand, but definately not either extreme.
Foreign policy - Middle - UN in theory is my vision of the future, where all the world is involved in major issues and policies. A world government body of the future is what I envision.
Social Issues - Left

On Religion:
Well, I'm athiest, so I guess that would be more in the category of Neutral. I think that people should be able to celebrate whatever religion they want to, Whenever they want, but within limits(we can't have people going around sacrificing goats to the hamburger gods at Checker's, now can we?)

On Economy:
I'm very Republican. I consider myself republican only because of my stance in this category. If you have money you deserve it. This is not to say that if you do not have money that you do not deserve it, but Come on, if you have a couple million in the bank, wouldn't you cant it just as much as if you had 100 bucks in there?

On Social Issues:
I'm Independent in this part. I think Weed should be legalized and I'm pro-choice and all that shit. I've heard democrats and republicans say friggin stupid things about this topc, lol.

On Iraq:
Ummm...One word...Marines. It would take one Marine sniper one bullet to solve the whole friggin problem. Marine who? What? There were no Marines in Iraq on that day. We really don't know what your talking about. OK, now, lets open the trade and benefit both countries. We get oil, they don't have to look at all those damn statues of Sadam's ulgy mug.

I think we should go like Switzerland though. Go neutral. I mean, you don't see any nukes pointed at the Swiss. You don't see any Swiss buildings having airplanes flown into them. We have the economy for it. We have the strength where no one would argue. Just let everyone piss their pants when we bring back all our troops and let them deal with their own shit.

Ummm, I think thats it. I'm glad this forum is open. I love social and political discussions. Hopefully we'll have no tools in here screwing it up. Happy debating!

Religion : In the middle. I belive in seperation of church and state, but I also believe we all can learn and use a lot of things that religion teaches.

Economy: Left

Foriegn Policy: Right

Social Issues: I'm pro choice(abortion), pro Euthenasia, pro certain drugs, pro homosexual marriage. Im against homosexuals adopting kids though simply because I feel that esspecially at a young age, it could have a very negative impact on the kid. Not in there sexual development, but in the way they are treated.

Re: get to know your TA rivals

Religion - left (separation)

Economy - 90% laissez faire ; 10% Left (i agree that in some cases it may be req'd some intervention)

Foriegn Policy - 99% left (i don't fit in the "isolationsism, indifference" part)
Social Issues - left (pro)

Also, i HATE dogmas. Your paradigm, your PoV (or mine) may be wrong, so don't ever stick to them as it was a matter of faith. Too much people believe in stuff without being sure about their ideas.

It has gone to a point where you don't talk about "your ideas" but "your beliefs" and that's bad.

zzleeper thanks for the spelling on laissez faire
sorry if the catagories too general, but in specific cases everybody has varying stances, i just wanted us to get a general feel for where we stand... and the examples i gave for each catagorie arent too accurate and werent meant to be taken exactly but i just though of giving some examples to help you decide where you are on right - left spectrum.

cool opinions btw, i see we have a wide array of people and beliefs

Well, I believe in the following things

1 : Separation of church & state (of course, unless you prefer teh Taliban)

2 : Ending Prohibition (aka the war on drugs) Even legalizing crack.

3 : Marrage should no longer be state sponsored

4 : Scaled fines based on income (like those cool finnish parking fines that keep even the millionaires on their toes. )

5 : Hi-Tech development in alternative energy to put arab oil barons out of business & buy out american oil companies to do this

6 : A free market (with crackdowns on monopolies) competetion is the driving force for a successful free market. Which is why public schools suck

7 : Scaled income tax percentages based on income

8 : Abolishing the property tax (what's yours is yours)

9 : Ending any forms of scholarship taxes

10 : Curtail union greed and reduce union's ability to protect crappy workers. (I hear about this and unions way too much)

11 : create a watch list on anti-american groups such as the nation of islam, michigan militia, and al-queda, as well as others.
