Can we all stop thinking our favorite version is the hands down best? The epic trance lovers dont give a shit about the "more complex soundscapes of progressive", and the prog heads dont care about the "intense emmotion" of uplifting. Can we all stop crusading, and realize that one isn't necessarily better than the other, and that people have diffrent tastes?

Fell in love with it the first time I heard it.. Personally, I'm not a huge prog fan but I've been known to fall in love with many prog tunes. Such as

My point exactly, Does it matter that I don't want to get into progressive ? No. Am I missing out on something ? Maybe so, But are prog fans missing out by not listening to harder stuff ? again maybe so, the whole thing is that I hate being preached of what to listen to, TV Companies control what we see, at least let us have freedom of choice with our music

no offence, but i think you depart from a wrong basis here. persistently sticking to one genre is purely having blinkers on. i have no problem with you only liking uplifting or hard trance, it's just that you don't want to take your time and explore the world of progressive. when you give an opinion about something, isn't it normal to examine all the aspects of the topic first? that's why IMO, you cannot just say that prog is boring after hearing one or two tracks. i've checked out (and i still do) lots of hard trance, but there are few tracks that really appeal to me. "freedom of choice", i agree, but at least try to open the door and explore the world around you!

Hmm I think this is wrong, as you have read my previous post in this thread.
As long you're satisfied with what u listen, and it completes your needs of being happy with the music, there's no way people have to explore other genres.
From the moment they aren't satisfied anymore with the music they listen nowadays, the exploring of other genres will follow automatically, but as long as you'r happy with the music u listen to, there's no reason why they should explore something else

I'm a progaddict, and I'm very openminded about this

I have tried with progressive, I've listened to sasha, digweed, james holden, cass & slide and numerous others, and still it does absolutely nothing for me, so saying I'm going in with blinkers is a bit BS and imo typical of the attitude of a lot of progressive fans against ppl who think like me. I know theres a lot and most of the other ppl in this thread so far like DJ Sunburn & Tranceseeker to name two who don't see it that way, and I dont want you guys to think I'm slagging you off, cos I'm not, it's the others who cant see that I'm satisfied already with my diversity in styles.

If I have blinkers why do I listen to Hybrid, Chicane, WoW, Mark Moon, Michael Woods, Marco V, Talla 2xlc, Ferry, Armin, SHOKK, Flutlicht, Mauro Picotto, Technoboy, Push, Safri Duo, Rocco, Tuneboy, Scot Project, Dumonde, Yoji Biomehanika, Lee Haslam, BK, Nick Sentience, Mario Piu, Pulsedriver, Yahel, Kai Tracid, Thrillseekers, Pulser,Oliver Lieb, William orbit (not the remixes but like his album) Matt Darey, Hivver & Hammer, Cosmic Gate, Nu-Nrg, Airwave, Lost Witness, Pvd, etc etc

If they all sound the same to you then I think that you're the one with the problem, I've tried prog and it's boring IMO, and theres more like me, Progressive isn't a sound that everyone has to listen to, it isn't a genre that if people don't like that they should be called inferior or narrow minded. As well as those mentioned above I like a lot of other artists, but rarely are any of them progressive. If that makes me narrow minded or a lesser person, then take a spoon and eat my ass, cos I don't view myself as any less than the progressive lovers, or any more, we are all equal and diverse in our own ways and trying to force an idea onto us will only make us loathe you for it.

I don't in any way think that the ones I listen to are superior to others and I hate others who do, Noone is 'that' much more special ever

DnB is bigger now than it ever was in the past girlfriend. And i dont see where you are going with the ambient/chillout direction. I think the chillout stuff is stuck b/w a rock and a hard place. All i ever see are compilation after compilation of crap chill out tracks from years ago.

first of all, progressive is not a particular sound. it stands for exploring and diving into new sounds, hence the name 'progressive', (r)evolution or even diversity if u like. and second, did i imply that you were inferior because you don't like prog? i don't think so, it's just that you previously said "i don't want to get into the genre". i have a problem with people who are reluctant to check out different stuff than they are used to (and not only concerning music styles). with regard to individual developpement i believe this is a necessity. but as it seems, you've already freed some time for prog nonetheless, so this changes my point of view towards you.

I like progressive as much as I like Trance, Techno, and House, I have an open mind when it comes to electronic dance music, So I like anything that I hear as long as its part of those genres, However, I been listening to more progressive then I thought I did since the music takes me on a euphoric journey just hearing it, I got more into progressive cause of listening to the Global DJ Broadcast with Markus Schulz spinning his sets, Cause of his DJ skills, I have goten into progressive a lot more, But it doesn't mean I dont listen to the other genres, It really depends on the tracks, If I hear a track thats either progressive, Trance, Techno, Or house and I start feeling it, I would then like it a lot.

Well Mikey I was trying to be nice about it mate, and in a way u described how I usuaully would, I just dont see why if we can't get into it we're not the same level of person, it could be said for anyone of any genre
