Yeah, I appreciate what you're saying. I find quite often when I'm playing around mixing that I tend to follow the flow into really mellow territory quite readily, and it doesn't always make sense. Personally it doesn't bother me at all on this mix, though, and it sounds like you still enjoyed it.

Didn't I once release a mix called "Lush" when you were working on a mix with the same title?

Was this mix pretty spontaneous?

Hah, yeah, I had forgotten about that. Yours was that excellent 2 hour 90s mix that I still listen to a once or twice a year, while I was working on some ridiculous melodic prog mix that started with the entirety of Arkham Asylum mixed into a series of Van Bellen remixes. I think a few drafts of it are on an old hard-drive somewhere in America - I'm pretty sure I never posted any version of it after you took the name

I've never listened to 'Brother For Real' before, looking forward to it. I've barely explored the Plastic City label, but the Touche one is definitely worth perusing.

And I actually did find 2->3 a bit jarring, but didn't notice it was out of key.

The whole section from Terry's Cafe to Island came about in a mixing session for something else. I liked the flow so much that I decided to make it the body of a new mix, so the ending was tacked-on at a later date. That may account for why you think it sounds disjointed between those two sections. But again, I like how it turned out, it goes a bit mellow and then comes up anthemic.

Other than that Steve Rachmad did two albums as Tons Of Tones that have that kind of sound.

Some mid 90s Touché maybe as well.

For more i'd have to dig deep into my wantlist which probably isn't that useful to you, considering most of that probably still hasn't made it into the digital domain.

Here's Ferry Corsten giving it a go

Now that is some crate digging. Tunage!

Ahhh yes, closing out with Ruhe. Nice tight mix man, obviously right up my alley lol.

Ruhe is always gonna remind me of like, 2011 when Sasha dropped it at 4am in Atlanta and I literally sprinted inside from the smoking area and lost my absolute mind. There were older looking dudes near me who were looking around wildly mouthing "THIS IS A CLASSIC!!!".

I think he played some remix of Morgan King - I Am Free after that and I was just MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

anyways, thanks for sharing!

I was lucky enough to hear Paul Bleasdale drop it in front of 1200 people a couple of years back. He mixed out in the breakdown, but my disappointment was assuaged when I realised he was mixing into West On 27th.

Hey mate I listened to this while running a week or two ago, I haven't gotten around to posting anything about it. All I can really remember is that it was really nice, even the softer part toward the end. I will get back to it again soon and write you a more proper review later.

Cheers Nick. I'm giving this a little bump because next week I'll be unveiling the final part of what has become the Rapid Transit Trilogy.

Incidentally, I was listening to this round at a friend's house after a night out recently, and yeah... that second transition didn't sound great. The tunes flow together well enough, but I should really have kept the frequencies apart for as long as possible.
