The thing I find with the APC is that I can use session view (which was just a repository for never ending loops before) to very quickly chop in and out of clip combinations.

I tend to then start creating scenes and using scene launch to create track layouts on the fly. I can also have a number of samples in trigger mode and use clip launch to jam those into the sequence too.

It's pretty neat!

If anyone has any old Roland keyboard workstations they had an RPS sequencer function where you can trigger MIDI patterns on/off via the keys. This can be really useful for mocking up a quick arrangement on the fly.

Another little test thing with loads of mistakes and no real direction.

Setup like this :-

Nord Lead - main bell/pluck sound
Analog 4 - Standard sequenced, synced to Live via Overbridge. Parts muted/unmuted via performance mode.
Live - Kick and percussion loops.
Akai APC - Used to launch clips (Nord sequenced via Live) and trigger noise (badly.....)

I had fun fiddling with this, but it's by no means a finished performance I'm happy with!

really cool man, Nord sounds great, what fx are you running?
the other sound that comes in later in the track, almost guitarish, love that as well but would have liked it to hang slightly longer or maybe a heavier reverb

Guys, that's super cool...but how do you actually record and save for further processing? I was thinking about an ipad which runs something like Cubasis or another lightweight sequencer...any advice is welcome...

The Nord is running through the Live ping pong delay (which I adore!) and Toraverb (which I now adore!)

I agree that the sound that comes in later needs changing, but I was just using stock parts from the Analog 4 for now to get some practice in with the APC and using part mute on the A4 at the same time. It's surprisingly confusing lol.

For me it's not something I do. I usually set the project up in Live, do a jam and render the stereo output as I'm doing it. I don't save the project for later as once it's done it's done.

What you could do is arm each separate channel in Live and do a multi channel render as you're tweaking live, then you can come back and mess about with it later. The only thing you won't get with that is the ability to tweak filters again etc. The way around that is to record midi instead of audio and if possible record filter changes with plugins. For example I have an editor for the nord lead that would allow me to effectively automate stuff like that.
