A great night it was!
It was good to meet JoeCool and to meet some of you tranceaddicts again - webmeister, Helen_k, V-Ho... I thought I had met Orpheus, but it was his brother. I found quite a few old friends, and made a few new ones!
Ferry played quite well, one of the highlight was Darren Tate vs jono Grant - Let the light shine in... definitely a hands-in-the-air euphoric experience! Also, the track with the vocals from an enigma track... does anyone know what that track is? Another highlight was when Rapid eye - Circa forever (r.e. remix) was played, I went all crazy and started telling everyone around me the track title & artist. Though it was too short - only a few minutes!
The other DJs didn't appeal to me at all, other than a few occasional nice tracks. I'm not really into tech-house or funky stuff. I like a bit of progressive stuff, especially atmospheric and trancey sounds, but I didn't go for that, I went only for uplifting trance! Tall Paul only played a few tracks that I liked, did he play Riva - Stringer? I think a lot of people would have preferred the whole night to be uplifting trance, that's what Ferry corsten is well-known for (other than Punk), and that's what most people would have gone for. I wish he played his dub of Ayumi Hamasaki - Whatever, that's one of my favourite tracks that he remixed. It wouldv'e been good if they arranged to put on Armin and Ferry together on one night, e.g. the Long Weekend last month.
It was a bit crowded, but I've experienced worse than that so to me it wasn't bad... you can't get any more packed than Decadence on NYE 1998 at Skygarden... tight body-to-body contact... though some people might like that kind of thing!
Absence of lasers was a disappointment. Wherever there's trance, there should be lasers. Coming from a bit of a rave-scene background, lasers were the norm, even in small cheap events. At least Godskitchen had 2, which is not great but it's something. But really, I'd like something like in Transmission or Mystic. Maybe even something like the laser setup at Utopia (hmmm that would be asking too much though. ).
I'll have my photos up soon, send me a Private message and I'll reply with the link when they're ready.
