I worked at a Walkabout for a while when I lived in the UK It was actually heaps of fun, but yes, they were pretty shit.

Definitely try roo meat though. It's pretty similar to beef, but super lean. If you end up making it yourself, make sure it's cooked rare, or it dries out and gets tough.
