I'm so mind-numbingly bored of dystopian shitfests, so this film better offer a fuck load more than just a gritty backdrop, especailly as Blade Runner did it so well, 35 fucking years ago.

I truly hope they take a page from JJ abrams that real sets make for a better film rather than just terrible CGI yet again.

Someone should really make a movie out of Yevgeny Zamyatin's "We." Given a competent director, screenwriter, etc. it could be a really good film, based upon a really good book.

How come nobody's done a movie version of Brave New World yet? I see there was a TV movie in 85, but that's it. Certainly would be very relevant today.

And while we're at it, bring Margaret Atwood's Maddaddam trilogy to the big screen.

SyFy has been trying to do a mini-series of BNW for a few years now, not sure what's going on with that.

I'd really prefer a miniseries to a film... It's just so hard to do a book as a movie.

Oh I dunno, it's not like BNW is super complex. I think it could be done pretty well, under the right direction.

yo

ima go see this with my dad for sure. he was a big fan of the original.

ive seen the original a few times but ill have to rewatch it, its a cult classic. plus the soundtrack was amazing. a few years back a local non franchised cinema had a showing and i went with a friend and recall loving it. dont think a cinema has done that since in 10 years.

im going to go in with 0 expectations or hopes. the original writer has penned the screenplay/story so thats a plus for sequels. and the director has done some pretty nasty films so there's a lot of hope here. you've also got ejo, and leto on the cast. gosling has been able to prove his acting skills.

boys we in for a legit movie i think. feelsgoodman

It doesn't sound like you have zero expectations or hopes.

Eh, as big of a Harrison Ford fan as I am, I was never all too astounded by Bladerunner. Yes Ridley Scott did well on the set pieces and the whole dystopian future look, although he sure didn't get Pan-AM or Atari right. I think the only part of the original I actually liked was JM Sebastian's toys. Needless to say, I'll be waiting for a Redbox release before I see Bladerunner2049.

Now that new real action Ghost in the Shell movie that's coming out later this week, I have higher expectations for, although I don't expect to be too impressed by it either. But it sure does look lovely.

ok yea, i hope its good but i just set the expectation correctly i guess.. the way i look at it is this

we have no idea what it will be until we see it for ourselves. i try to remain neutral. however i am teetering on the side of optimistic.

i can estimate/theorize what it might be like by quickly looking at the cast and their histories but i dont want to set the expectation it's going to be amazing/good. i just go in with an open mind trying not to expect that it will be bad or good. it'll ruin the experience.

even when it comes out i tend to ignore most reviewers, its all subjective anyway.

Ghost in the shell vs Blade Runner? FML

You've seen the trailers right? It's looks terrible and the reviews so far are slating it, for not even living up to the original anime, so this version is going to be robocop with tits.
