Also, a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether, and two dozen amyls. Not that we needed all that for the trip, but once you get into a serious drug collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can. The only thing that really worried me was the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge, and I knew we'd get into that rotten stuff pretty soon.

She is cheesy! Ask any classical musician. Charlotte Church and Vanessa Mae are to classical music what Darude and DJ Alligator are to trance. Anyone that starts singing arias since they're 9 will burn out they're voice eventually, and she's too commercial, not the real shit. And not that talented at all if you compare her to other opera singers.

INDEED!!!!!! As a hardcore classical fan myself, Church is very cheesy indeed. She may be well trained vocally (for her age), but not artistically(?) IMO... It's probably due to her record company cause she does pump out alot of record $ale$$$$$!!!!

Vanessa Mae is indeed talented, but her rock/pop classical cross-over tracks suck big time... CHEEESE with sprinkles on top!!!! She did however release some TRUE classical recordings... and they are "okay" i guess.

Yeah, but they bring a lot of new listeners into the classical genre, the same way Darude and the like bring new listeners to the "real" trance. People hear the "cheezy" stuff and are intrigued. Then after a little looking around they are opened up to a whole new musical experience they wouldn't have known about otherwise. There will always be a place in the world for the Vanessa Mae's and Darude's in this world, even if that place is just a transition between genres. Besides, I'll take cheezy clasical and cheezy trance over cheezy pop any day.

Yo you're the first TA i meet who's also a classical fan like me. Nice quote by John Cage in your sig, giving props to the true pioneers of electronic music.

I agree, Charlotte is a money making tool, anyone that knows a bit about classical should know that.

Vannesa Mae is talented, but not that great when you compare her to the other young violin virtuosos out there like Maxime Vengerov, Gil Shaham, Hilary Hahn(she's SO hot!!) etc. And most of the music she makes is crap. Later.

Like wise!

Do people say "WTF?" when you tell them that you listen to Trance and Classical ??? LOL People would be suprised on how similar trance and classical (epscially Baroque) are.

I feel as much pleasure listening to, lets say, Armin's Communication, as Brahm's 3rd symphony... Pure emotional bliss...

Vengerov is a SICK violinst!!!
My favorite though would be Itzhak Perlman

Correct me if I'm wrong but

Isn't Jurgen Vries = Darren Tate. As far as I know until 2 weeks ago the opera song was unsigned, Graham Gold has a CD-R of it and has been playing it quite a bit on his Monday night show.

Ok track, but lacks punch imho.

Yes it is Darren Tate. The track was originally an unknown artist, then became Alphaland, but for obvious reasons Mr Tate decided to use his Jurgen Vries pseudonym for this track i.e. it might sell more copies!
Its certainly not a cheesey track, but not as good as all the hype that surrounded it when Jules first started playing it.

Think the promos have just come out.

Maybe you're right about it not being the best. However I've seen it played out and it simply was the biggest track of the night...
