Finished my last day of work until January 2nd. Gotta love vacation days.

Gonna do some housecleaning today and tomorrow, then start relaxing for the weekend. Prolly do some snowshoeing, maybe some downhill skiing too, we'll see. We're staying in town this year instead of going to Toronto (my partner and I), so the food is going to be off the charts at my family home where the festivities are. My dad always brings the big guns for the holidays.

We'll be in Toronto for New Years though... that will be fun

I'm off the 24-29. The first time I've had Christmas instead of New Year's off in 7 years. Quite looking forward to enjoying the actual holiday with the fam!

23 years. For 23 years I had been searching for a loop that I had stuck in my head, but couldn't find because... really, how can you expect to look up "drum loop that goes woo-yeah" and find something?

Today I found out it's from Lyn Collin's "Think (About It)" and, much to my surprise, I would have found it if I searched for "Woo! Yeah"

Thursday I celebrated my 15th anniversary with my wife, and that was the highlight of the week, but my Friday was all about this damn drum loop

Congrats Lira, on both accounts!

I got to leave early from work today, so now I get to enjoy the full day of celebrations with my fam! Yay!

Oh man. If you'd typed "classic breaks" into Youtube you could probably have found it in about three minutes. The funny thing about the Think break is how the little vocal snatch makes it sound totally different when pitched up to drum 'n bass speed. It's effectively two iconic drum loops in one.

Haha, I know, right!? In hindsight, the solution was so obvious, and it was all over tracks I know

Yet, because I first heard the "woo-yeah" on top of a 4/4 beat as a 12 year old, I never registered it as a drum loop - for whatever reason, I assumed it was just two vocal samples always used in tandem.

I hope the surgery and the kitten's disease are unrelated, and I wish you both a speedy recovery

Oh, and by the way, I bought myself an audio monitor for Christmas. Edifier audio monitors are omnipresent here in Brasilia for whatever reason, and the reviews looked a bit good, so I got myself one. Let's now hope my neighbours like drum'n'bass and big beat!

Congrats Marcus!

Today my grandchild got baptized, so now I'm officially her godfather! She did very well, cried, threw up over my cousin and burped in the church
It's nice that she got baptized in the same little church were I got baptized, received the First Holy Communion and got married. Downside is that I'll probably be there again tomorrow evening...for much longer...

Tomorrow evening as usual dinner at my parents with my sister and friend. Joining my dad to church while my mom will be singing in the choir and the others will be waiting and try to stay awake.
Sunday we'll visit my mother in law and by then I'll be wondering if I did succeed in my intention not to eat too much.

It must be nice to have close ties with a church. I don't know where I was baptised, I received my First Holy Communion in (a military) middle school, and I got married in an Italian restaurant

It's not quite 8am on Christmas Eve here, and I've just finished up the big grocery shop for tomorrow. Glad I went early, because at 7am it still took me nearly 10 minutes to find a parking spot I guess everyone else had the same idea. All that's left to get is booze, but they don't open for another hour.
