a few years ago the liquor store stocked one from california (North Coast Brewing) called Old Rasputin. i loved it but after that season was over they never brought it back. the local imperial stouts and porters do the trick so long as they aren't bourbon barrel aged...

I worked at a bike shop for a bit and we did a lot of fits. We usually ended up swapping cranks out to get fits more aero. You don't have to, and if you are flexible enough there is no need.

I've done Muncie twice, I love that race. There are all distances at some point in Chattanooga. A 70.3 in May, an Oly/Sprint in late June, and a full in Sept. Definitely recommend doing one there, the town is awesome.

One of my friends/coworkers and a buddy of his that runs a local tire shop in the town I work at are huge bike nuts. Barry probably spends 10s of thousands a year on frames, etc. They love riding the trails over at VW in Chatt.

It all adds up quick, and there is always something new and better to buy with frames and components. Then types of bikes as you obviously need a mountain, road, gravel, time trial, and commuter bike.

Indeed. They have framers, shifters, derailers, etc. for every damn trail/environment type, I swear. Barry does well running his tire shop, and he gets tire manufacturer rebate checks each quarter that are more than my annual salary, lol. Hell, he bought/sold over 70K worth of bikes via Craigs List one year. These boys keep waiting for a good enough snow down this way to get the "fat tire" bikes out and raise hell. I live at about 1800 ft elevation, so we get a few good snows "on the mountain," but you drop 1000 ft when you drive into the Sequatchie Valley, so it's more difficult to get a good snow that hangs on down here.

Crazy weather in Middle TN last night. I think the last count I saw was 19 fatalities in tornadoes...14 in Cookeville, TN/Putnam County alone! Parts of Nashville got tore the fuck up. We were much luckier on the Plateau. Most of the strong stuff broke up/weakened before it hit, and the cell that produced the tornadoes in Camden, Nashville, and the Cookeville passed north of us. When I was a kid, storms scared me to death. I would go into literal panic attacks. We lived on a 165 acre cattle farm that one of my uncles owned. Our house was in the middle of a large pasture on the south side of the farm, so we have a large, unobstructed view due north and west, which most of our weather comes from. I recall staring out the large sliding glass doors on the north side of the house, many times, secretly praying to whatever deity that may be to see fit NOT to drop a funnel cloud on top of us.

I have a friend in Nashville, and her entire neighborhood just got flattened. The pictures she posted on Facebook this morning just look completely insane.

Yes, sir, the pics were jaw dropping and sobering. It's amazing, to me, that something you can't even see (air) can pick up a car and throw it into a 3rd story apartment as easily as you or I could throw a baseball.

I'm about 30 miles south of Putnam County/Cookeville, which has the highest death toll. Though curious to drive up that way and see the damage first hand (never seen a tornado, nor do I want to), the right thing to do is to stay out of the way of first responders, emergency workers, and officials...and look for ways to help those in need. It's sobering to realize that had the storm cell been just a few miles south, I could very well be picking up the pieces of my life, too. I hope your friend is able to both recover as quickly as possible and to lend a helping hand to his/her neighbors. If more people (especially "Christians") actually practiced "love thy neighbor as thyself," we'd all be in a much better world. Instead, we are more apt to behave like, "I got mine, so fuck you...get your own."
