Wow. Bonzai were massive in the 90's and still managed to survive the 2000's when vinyl sales were slumping and digital sales were more prevalent. I believe they're still around too.

They went backrupt in 2002 and returned in 2003 with the flagship "banshee worx" concept. Now they called Bonzai Progressive. One of the best labels ever.

This may be opening up a whole can-of-worms but I just saw this on Discogs:
"The first wave of what many now consider to be "classic" trance peaked in 1992 and waned in 1994, and was dominated by producers and labels from Germany and the UK."
They also say Age of Love (from 1990) is sometimes pointed to as the earliest "pure" trance track. And I know that while the Age of Love duo were Italian, the famous trance version is the German Jam & Spoon mix

There were a lot of sounds circulating around '89-90 that could be considered "proto-trance". There are records from many countries, including Belgium, that could fit this description. But "trance" as a recognised musical movement is 100% German in origin.
