Surprised we managed to go a full page without anyone bringing up Stage One.

I know it wasn't nearly as popular (probably because prog wasn't nearly as popular at the time), but the 'Dark City' samples he used in 'Part 3' were also fantastic:

Anyway, I feel like the best, most successful samples in dance music history are probably key snippets in poppier dance music most of us can't even recognize as samples, from back in the 90's when everyone was sampling everyone, usually without concern for the rights.

I remember the first time I saw Dark City and being amazed when those lines came up, hah.

Orbital themselves have claimed their breakthrough single Chime has been sampled in more than 50 tracks including Joey Beltram - Energy Flash. That's remarkable.

This got no attention when it came out (except from Skyonee, and it was not positive), probably because it was just thrown into Graham's debut Space Manoeuvres LP when it finally came out, but I love the way Leama & Moor used those samples on their chillout remix of Stage One:

Not sure why they went with this titling since it's an obvious remix of Stage One, but it's a fine listen.

I've always thought that track one of the best things Marty and Andy produced together, that and the rather similar Shades of Yellow. Not surprised it got little attention as the mcprog world was all over four to the floor tracks like Fact of the Matter at the time, with these downtempo tracks almost like a bonus track added to releases that focused on 4x4 tunes.
