Errrrrrh.... |
E-music: E-music is the way Brazilian people call electronic music: don't worry, it's not a sub-genre or anything... I was just saving some space
Breakcore: It's (very) old-school jungle.

personally gabba/hardcore should be removed, disowned, and then beaten by loansharks with baseball bats... |
Yeah, and what will I say to the noobs about the roots of drum'n'bass?
"On the eight day, god created jungle, and he saw it was good" I'm trying to respect all genres here, no matter if I like them or not If I were to choose to exclude a genre which I don't like, it wouldn't be hardcore, that's for sure It would probably be garage or Tekno-Rio funk

Nice map, I assume it starts around the middle right?
Where's Hardstyle? I didn't see it. |
Yeah, it's starts from the grey area It evolved from Hard trance (it's on the way from "Goa" to "EBM)... and I wasn't sure whether I should create another sub-genre ... I'll fix it, thanks

I hope you're not too serious
This map kinda sucks... |
Help me out then, why do you think I posted it?

what exactly are the differences between anthemic, symphonic and epic trance? for me it's all the same |
Anthem/Epic: In fact, I'm seriously thinking about merging them into uplifting trance. There are some minor differences, but it's mostly technical stuff, so I wouldn't really bother to know the difference
Symphonic: It's trance with real orchestras, which has got nothing to do (at all) with anthem/epic trance.

nice idea, but way too many sub genres.
|
I'll try to merge as many sub-genres as possible, but we're talking about 40 years of electronic music, lots of things changed, you know?

Hey, you know what?
I think the map is pretty damn accurate. I mean, as accurate as it can be--you're never going to please all of the people all the time.
I give it my *thumbs up*. Way to go.
Also, something else that puzzles me: if you guys hate my music guide so much, why do you keep suggesting it as a valuable resource tool in every thread about electronic music genres?
I've already explained, time and time again, that it's not trying to be an educational resource or a primer or a historical document or anything of the sort. It is, as it was originally, just a vehicle for me to make disparaging remarks on all the banal forms of electronic music out there, which, much like anything else, happens to be well over 90% of it.

Hey Ishkur,
I had no idea were on TA either, lol! (Or Canadian for that matter).
Cool!
I've used your flash TONS of times because literally there was NOTHING else to use.
It was the only mapping of gendres out there; and yes, I was aware of your *disclaimer
Maybe you and Maaz can work on a updated, serious mapping together?
That would be awesome...
You could hand out 'assignments' to the TAs.
ie. Give ppl gendres of music to find samples for.
Just a thought...
Nice to see you here...when did you join? Or how long have you been lurking?
Take care.
