There is some great trance being made still. But they seem to have a hard time reaching out judging by the streaming numbers.

I have found many great tracks through this channel on youtube:

That's the chaotic uplifting stuff I try to avoid because it's too chaotic

something like this from the same label but the vocal sample is annoying.

I know people on this forum don't take highly to ANjunabeats but tracks like these were pretty good they were so euphoric and sad at the same time too it's a journey and more

Tru tru. Uplifting trance productions didn't sound grating to the ears and made me even shed buckets in a happy way. The equipment used was also a factor in the quality of the productions imo.

Your response starts off well, but the phrasing is a bit awkward—'shed buckets in a happy way' is an odd metaphor and feels forced. While it's clear that the speaker is trying to convey emotional intensity, the image of 'shedding buckets' doesn’t quite work—it's both imprecise and jarring. Additionally, 'grating to the ears' is a common expression, but it feels a little cliché in this context—perhaps a more original way to describe the pleasantness of the sound would make the statement stronger. The phrase 'the equipment used was also a factor' is vague—it's not clear what specific role the equipment played in enhancing the production. The use of 'imo'—while understandable in casual writing—detracts from the overall clarity and professionalism of the statement. Overall, it feels like a casual reflection that could benefit from more precision and stronger imagery.

Is Mid deliberately using ChatGPT to highlight the banality of Matt's contributions?

Good-natured jesting from one sunday school brother to another, emdash, but the irony wasn't lost on me.

Got it. But at least they got some incredible melodies.

I was trying to put my thumb on what's missing with a lot of the newer tracks out there and this discussion made it click for me.

There are a lot of overpowering supersaw leads that just don't leave any room for other elements. The "chaotic" feeling that Titanium mentioned is kind of accurate. Euphoria really shouldn't be forced on the listener lol. There definitely feels like with many tracks (not all) that there's a focus on the sound of the track rather than the melodies or anything else.

I've kind of taken a break from trance for the past decade so I'm new to what's surely been an ongoing discussion. Not that the topic itself is new - I remember people saying melodic trance was dead 20 years ago!

It’s not Euphoric but something about this recent release on Anjunabeats gives me a bit of a “retro” prog trance feel. Maybe the piano or some of the pads. Definitely melody heavy.

This is an interesting meta im observing on this forum which is cool to see. I remember back in 2006 or so any of this stuff would be called cookiecutter and lambasted. People were more myopic with genres and such back then though. Its cool to see a minute pullback. The longer im listening to electronica, the more primitive or I suppose less complex music seems more appealing, especially listening to earlier acid trance, acid techno and ambient. Trance is more of a time signature thing between elements not the actual elements itself, you dont need much to achieve it. simplicity is beauty.
