yah i have comp speakers that are good for the dorm...

i find myself using my imagination too often tho - i wished they just knocked, like club speakers|

those klipsch speakers...umm cant even look, will want them.

logitech has a good system that is relatively cheap and great sounding. peeps knock em for being a mouse company, but thats not really the point, if the sound is good|

No, if you turn down the bass they'll play accordingly. They can produce crystal clear sound, but as for mine I burned the tweeters a couple of years ago, mind you they still play great, but the high frequency responce isn't what it used to be. If you want you can get good tower speakers w/ amazing sound quality, you just gotta spend $$$
my friend for, example spent $1,700 (CAD) on his.

This is what I'd recommend for your price range.

I've got a pair of this beauty:

Infinity Reference 61
specs, dunno exactly anymore, 120 cm high 30 deep, 30 width, up to 250 watt, um, double low freq tweeter, 3-way, subwoofer on the back

paid about 200 euros each, 1+ year ago, attached them to my yamaha amplifier (AX-496, 2x 120 watt)

great sound, great bass, no complaints (from me, the neighbours...arghh...)

I got the klipsch also. Sound quality is great, im more of a quality person than just wanting it loud so they do me just fine. They do go loud and the sub hits pretty hard, but there are some that put out better bass. Although the quality can not be matched, they just sound so damn good. They usually have em set up at best buy, so you can go listen to them there. The wide open space and the fact they are all cramed together doesnt do much justice, but still if you want to see how they look. Quality product IMO.

No doubt! I herd them at Best Buy and thought they were good, but after I bought a set and set them up at home I was amazed. Sound quality is excelent!
