In a way you're right. Tang Soo Do originated in Korea, but only because at some point in history (god knows when) the Japanese invaded Korea, and brought their martial art with them. Over time, after the Japanese had left Korea, the art gradually developed a style of it's own, which was slightly different from Japanese karate, such as Shotokan.
I guess it all comes down to the guy (or gal) who teaches it. A lot of people are good at their martial art, although many of them can't teach it at all. I was lucky, my instructor's both good at what he does but can also teach it very well. He's 28 I think and he's 4th Dan (Master). Christ that guy's invinsible, but to look at him you wouldn't think it.
