Jesus christ! why does every thread in this forum has the potential to be all out flame war??? Please re-read my post carefully before you say I'm ignorant and insulting.
No where in my post did I say that people are only going to Tiesto solely because he was voted the #1 Dj in Dj Mag....WTF????
I also never said that I didn't like trance or Tiesto, in fact it's quite the opposite (I joined tranceaddict because I love trance afterall) .
Fact is, I was really excited about Tiesto coming and was counting down the days until I found out Donald was coming to town. I was planning a trip down to Seattle just to see him for quite some time now (good thing he comes to Toronto quite often). I'm torn because a lot of my friends don't have a clue who Donald Glaude is and is quite excited to go see Tiesto on the 14th and I'm having a hard time convincing them otherwise.
One thing that is so great about Toronto is that it caters to just about everyone. Even when a huge headliner like Tiesto is in town you can still find tons of other great parties if you know where to look. I've seen Tiesto a few times and had a blast everytime, but the city doesn't have to stop running when he's in town.
TranceXtasy made a comment asking why other clubs even bother booking other djs when Tiesto is in Town, this goes back to clubs in Toronto catering to everyone's different taste and I'm glad for it and it's the reason why it makes our city so great. There are MANY MANY other artists that if booked on the same night as Tiesto, I would rather go see too besides Donald (ie. Infected Mushroom (!!!!), Timo Maas, Adam Freeland, Dave the Drummer, Badboybill, etc)
Please have a little acceptance and don't be so ignorant to other genres besides trance.
About the Dj Mag thing, I think Nick Warren's take on the whole voting thing was best. It means diddly squat.

Thank you!
I had a similar decision a few years ago when PVD was in town at Guv. I decided to go see Donald (and to a lesser extent DJ Hype) at the BLC instead, going there I wasn't sure that night if I made the right decision because I was really hyped about PVD too. So lets see at least 13,000 people showed up that night at BLC....awesome vibe, Donald and Dj Hype (Ann Savage too) tearing the house down, turned out to be the best night of my life.....So yeah definately made the right decision. The fact that 13,000 people showed up to this party even though a huge headliner like PVD was in town showed how diverse Toronto really is.
Tiesto at kool haus is going to be a great party, so go enjoy yourselves. I'm not telling anyone otherwise. But just getting back to my original point that there is other great parties happening besides Tiesto that I think a lot of people maybe missing out because they are blind to everything else.
And that is the reason why promoters do book other talents on that night. We should be happy that we have a choice and that so many great talents come to Toronto on a regular basis. A lot of cities around the world would kill to have what we have.
