Totally agreed. Question is though, whether or not you can even abuse it, cause with an unlimited plan come the leechers and most ISPs have at best a 1:4 bandwidth ratio. You do the maths, speeds start dropping, people start complaining, the company changes the plan, just like iinet did. Companies don't make money out of unlimited DSL, it's been proven a hundred times over (well perhaps I can name several - Optus, Telstra, iinet) Hence, don't expect i-green's unlimited plan to last.

To take a more local example, hypermax has offered an unlimited 256k plan in Brisbane and already people are talking about speeds of around 4-6k/sec. Their pipes just aren't big enough and at the price you're paying, they can't afford to buy fatter pipes.

Yeah Dowlz that's true, but the i-green representative who posts in the Whirlpool forums reckons their bandwidth usage is about 15-20% of capacity, and that they will be doubling their pipe in the next few weeks....

Blame it on Telstra's marketing.

I was on the iiNet "256 plus" plan and downgraded to the 128 plan.
I can now download whenever I want, no need to worry about peak and off-peak times.

The stuff comes in slower but I can download much more at $50 ($20 less) per month.

Since 30 days ago I've downloaded 16146.54GB.

The most I've ever downloaded in one 24h day was 918.49MB, that was on 5 December 2002.

I had to get a new 80GB hard disk drive a bit over a week ago, got a Seagate 80GB for $210.

The problem I've been having is that I hardly have enough spare time to listen to the music and watch the movies I've been downloading. I'll have to work it out.

DJ Dowlz, have you signed up yet? My username is mindwarp, mention me if you are going to sign up!

I will be signing up shortly (initially onto the 512 plan and then onto the 128 plan when I'm not here) but the person I'm buying my modem off on e-bay will give me $25 off the modem if I put his username down. Unless of course you don't mind direct debiting $25 into my bank account, then I can put your username down if you'd like. Doesn't make any difference to me and I would prefer to give the saving to somebody I "know".
