On this issue, i would consider China a "sleeping dragon". Peaceful and idle if you dont disturb it. However, we havent really seen China become worldwide outspoken.

Its possible that China may bring a balance of power to the world, however i dont think it should.

China isnt really involved in political matters of other countries, unless it involves China. In otherwords, China has a tendency not to be nosy in relation to international affairs, however spying and technology is another issue.

I know there are many many Chinese who now live in the US/Canada/Australia. I was referring to those who still live in China, though. Would be interesting to hear a voice coming direc´tly from there

FYI china has a very large arsenal of nuclear weapons, only US and Russia have more, and the difference in amounts is not very large. Only thing is that China started building it's ICBMs recently, when it stole it's technology from the US , but it has a huge number of nuclear bombs (6000+).

i'm pretty sure the number is alot smaller...russia has abt 7000-8000, and china has at least 3000-4000 less, so MAX i'd say abt 2000 nukes

I'd have to agree that China has more than 2000 warheads, when Russia and the USA had 10's of thousands of them during the cold war...

But who cares, true? Even 2000 warheads could put a hole in the sun.

Indeed, what's a 1000 more nuclear warheads when we're dealing with such big numbers.

But don't forget that China has a seat in the UN security council. They're not that isolated.

What is China's stance on the Middle East. The reason I ask is that, for the life of me, I can't seem to remember China being all worried about who the Oil exporters are etc...They don't seem to care about who's in control as much as the US anyway.

Curious

Hmm, the Chinese position about middle east is pretty unknown. What I know is that they don't like muslim extremists, since they have some in their own country. However, they are in a some sort of weak military treaty with Pakistan, because of India, which Chinese see as a threat to their dominance over Asia. With most of the arab countries, they're not on bad terms. Overall their stance seems like it's pretty neutral. Maybe some Chinese TA would know more about it though than I. Don't know where they get their oil from, probably from the middle east themselves, althou they do have some of their own...

Don't forget that gigantic language barrier. Chinese is one of the most complex languages, even most chinese never learn it fully.
