Personally, I perfer progressive house. I dunno why but I just can't stop listening to it. I don't mind trance every now and then though. Btw, Oakenfold is a good progressive DJ, but, in my opionion, a shit producer now. Just my personal tastes.

Prgo is good while Trance moves your soul

Hey i dont think anyone is against PROG here, i think its nice to listen but with prog its just like any other genre of music like rock, rnb or breaks....there are good tracks and the good tracks are good....
But these listed genres hasnt got the depth and complexity that epic/uplifting trance music possesses...trance music moves people with or without drugs in a different way to other genres of music

READ MY SIG it explains it all

I don't see how that explains anything.

Really great trance music is best heard when you're lying on the floor, with arms outstretched, crucified beneath monstrous speakers. Trance takes the thump of hardcore techno music and scatters it among swirls of melody and elliptical rhythms, facilitating a sense of detachment that allows the mind to wander. For instance, on Sasha's Global Underground: Ibiza the sounds rise and fall together, working cohesively, like on a perfect night in the blue room upstairs at the rave, bringing you back down to Earth only long enough to be bounced right back into the stratosphere. The music provides an appreciation of musical space--the distance between sounds and the silence before the boom--allowing the listener to seep into each song slowly, convincingly.

Am I like the only person here who like trance and prog (all forms)???? What I listen to/go clubbing to depends on my mood.

P.S - Bedrock - I dont say this much but you really are a **** and I think you should seriously consider leaving tranceaddict coz all I ever see you do is start arguments.

No, I'm right there with you. I like both as well, although I tend to think I'm starting to lean more to the prog. end. There's still a lot of killer trance out there, but the bells, whistles, synths., and vocals tend to sound all the same after a number of years. However, PVD's mix on 16-8-02 threw my ass right back into Trance for awhile.

I dunno really. Last weekend, Dave Aude came through town and threw down a helluva great dirty house/prog. set that was just beautiful! A little while ago, Hyper came to town and showed me a side of Breaks that I didn't know existed, and was 20x better than his stuff on his Bedrock CD. Variety is key. I'd love to have a good Trance DJ come through my way. Tiesto's coming to Denver here in a few days, but there's no way I can make it out there.

Right we better stick together mate, coz everyone else is totally divided!!
I just like variety in dance music. And I respect innovation which is why I like prog'.
Also coz I love dance music so much I listen to all the sub-layers in tracks, which is what prog is about, it's not as Obvious as trance.
Then sometimes prog isnt enough, and its on with the huge synths and huuuuuuge breakdowns.

Like I said before, depends on the mood.
