Having owned Sony MDR700s, Technics RP1200a DJ and Sennheiser's HD-280...i would say that the Senns are the most comfortable....i could wear them for hours.....

The Sony looks too big and breaks easily...The Technics has good hi and bass, nice size....The Senn's have very low bass frequencies....maybe my ears are busted....but whatever you get....hope you like it...or else you'll end up like me...spending too much on headphones...

i think you do need bass
was at a club once, and ahhh most crappest mixer
couldnt even hear the bass heheh, (using pioneer 5000 <--hate it not comfortable at all)
using technic 1200 Headphones atm

all i heard was mid and highs,
so had to beatmix with no beats just the hi-hats
still works tho

2 questions... firstly, whats wrong with the mdr-v700dj ? ive had these headphones for about 3-4 years (even originally picked them based on sony's website, not seeing big djs us 'em). in one of the linked threads the expert guy was bashing them, and granted they've lost some of the clarity now.. but they were awesome for the first 2 years.

second question, how come i can't find the frequently mentioned MDR-V6 on the sony website? have they been discontinued? i see them on reseller websites, but not on sony's. and what is it that makes this headphone that much better than the mdr-v700 and 900 series ?

thanks for clarification
