i don't think that it's fair that everyone bashes the US.. I live in Japan now but, for almost 7yrs of my life, i lived in the States. and while there are many things that don't seem so right about the US, the same goes for anywhere else u go. i think it's just much easier to criticize or scrutinize a certain country or society for that matter, when u aren't part of that certain society or if u are an inactive member or such society. and also consider the fact that the US is a big country in size as well as population, and w/ more ppl and more space the more diverse that land is gonna be. yeah there are plenty of rednecks and ignorant poor white trash in the US but aren't there similar groups of ppl anywhere us go? i think it's quite inevitable that w/ the good comes the bad. regardless of whether the generalization of the US is w/ ill intent or not, it bothers me how ppl can make such generalization 'bout a country that has almost 300millions ppl.
about the US government...well...it may be corrupted but aren't all governments corrupted in some sense? and it may be true that ppl in the good ol' U.S. of A can't even elect their own president buti can guarantee u that if the common people's opinion really did matter, then they would have been able to choose the right prez w/o doubt. sux for them that they got a senseless bigot (who seems to be only able to talk outa his @$$ ) for a president now!
i think that most ppl, even the ppl in the US, understand that the US is sugar coated and realize that it IS a prob BUT ya know how the saying goes... it's easier said than done. i don't think that there's much that can be done about the 'sugar coatedness' of the US.
anyways...sowwy about soundin' harsh... no, i'm not an anal bitch nor am i in a bad mood.. it just grates on my nerves when i see ppl belittle or make generalizations...anyhow, everyone's entitled to their opinion, right? hope i didn't offend anyone....i will say it again but, this is all IMHO kinda crap so....

i so fucking hate living in the us!
i mean sure... theres places i like in this country... but then again... id die to live in europe
not only does it suck living in my moderately developed county due to it only being moderately developed... but the fucking ppl...
there are no ENJOYABLE clubs here... just the silo (basically a bar where they have booty night once a month) and club coliseum (a bar smaller than my house with a dancer floor about the size of my bedroom)... they are finally opening up a house/techno club in the nearest city this week (and it better not suck!)...
there are no DECENT radio stations here... most of the stations come from philly... and are mostly pop/hip-hop... closest thing youd ever get to trance is hearing alice deejay on the friday night party mix... blah
the cops here do such illegal things... just yesterday morning i had to get out and WAKE UP the fucking state trooper that was sitting in my driveway so i could goto work... and i had a copy follow me for about 10 miles throughout 3 townships that he didnt belong in just to make sure i wasnt speeding
everyone around here is soooooooooooo brainwashed by pop culture... "whatd you do tonight?" "i memorized lyrics to ja rule!"... everyone at my high school got a jetta just because that was the car that popular kids drove... jocks and cheerleaders ruled the school... everyone harasses everyone for being different... nobody that i live near even knows who paul van dyk is
and theres so much more i need to rant about... but ill save that for when i redesign my web site this week...
you say life is sugarcoated here? only on tv... in reality, theres lots of ppl who live here and are miserable on the inside every day

I've known krusader for 7 years, and I've been to PA many times.. yeah, it sucks. I wouldn't call it sugarcoated.. If you live near a big city like New York, Philadelphia or Washington DC, life is much better than in some tiny 400 person town in the middle of nowhere, but there is more sugarcoating too. Sleepy suburban middle class white people like it that way..
I think American Beauty illustrated the whole situation really well. There is a facade of sugarcoated happiness, but there are also many people who are sick of it.

all these replies it just makes me laugh.(not at the people but all the different views and comments). i could rant and rave but...ok ill rant
history teaches us that the pilgrams fled europe from religiuos persicution and a better way of life.as this great country of ours grew over the past centuries it became known as the land of the free and the land of oppertunity a "melting pot society"now when so many diverse backgrounds get threwn together of coarse there will be some backlash or dissagrement.that is 2 of our problems diversity and religion dont mix.but fast forward 300 some years to the present.people in this country have it made.... if they get off their ass and work hard you CAN have anything your heart desires but we are becoming an instant gratification society and people are becoming lazy.tell me another country where an illegal immigrant can go get just as good if not better health care and education then its own citizens (not that this a good thing).tell me what other country can you go live, not speak the language and own your own business and be successful in very short period of time.i cant remeber the last time there was a war on our own soil, sure the cops get a little carried away picking on minorities or kids but that issue is being addressed as we speak.changes dont happen over night(instant gratification) i know there some problems here but there are problems everywhere and the fellow TA'S who live in other countries really only know what their press tells them from their own biased views the same goes for what we here about your countries. i dont claim america to be perfect but its a damn great place to live and from a personal point i would love for our country to withdrawl from the world scene for a couple of years and stop bailing out financially and militarliy half the damn countries on this planet to handle our own domestic problems but we all know that will never fly.i have more things i love to talk about but id rather sink myself into some smooth grooves and think how much i love trance peace
