It is Paul Oakenfold. I read an article about him in The Telegraph newpaper suppliment mag. It's not only the money he can ask but the other terms and conditions. He can say who else plays at the same gig etc.
And he was the first DJ to become a millionaire from it also.

most you guys are talking about how much they get paid on NYE!!! on NYE rates triple.
and alot of the dj's dont even charge that much in europe. they are far cheaper. when they come to the US they charge a shit more. but not as much are you guys think!

Don't forget he has to share some of the money with some of other guys who mixed and burn the CDs too, hiring people to mix CDs for your sets ain't cheap you know.

a lot Of DJ's base there price on where they're playing
at an event like I love techno, £25,000 is nothing
and I doubt fatboy slim charges that much for a normal club gig
and Oakie is raping the US club scene for all it's worth, and I say fair play

damn... all would ask for is free food/drink at the party. if the promoter wants to pay me, ill allow it...but unless they totally stiff me outta anything...im fine just playing.
edit: i'd never tell a promoter that until after the party(like a 1ce in a life time gig), or unless i'd played a couple parties and knew the promoters really well.
(in most cases)its not like they r gunna be selling the set to anyone, so i require no royalties. and im willing to share my djing talent with anyone willing to listen
