Ok some updates .. I have gone against buying the altec lansing 621 as it has no headphone socket and I use my headphones quite a bit and having to plug it in and out from the bottom of a full tower case would frustrate me ..

I've checked out the klipsch promedia 2.1 and I even liked the monster updgrade kit for the speaker cable but it seems as tho no1 in the UK sells these .. and the 1 place that I did find sold them for £200 as compared to $180 in the US

Finally back to the videologic sirocco .. same prob .. cant seem to find these anywhere in the UK .. :\

I wouldnt class myself as an audiophile tho at all and I highly doubt that I would notice the difference .. saying that any speakers will be a big improvement over my current 2.0 yamaha m10 or 20s i think or something .. As for not wanting to buy a stereo and amp .. its not that i dont want to .. its just that with mu budget I wouldnt get very far and I dont want to get carried away with what is essentially pc speakers ..
