different puters are built for different things..those puters u see for gaming have better video cards and a lot of RAM.

I use Mac's which process graphics a lot faster than PC's, because PC's no matter how fast the processor can only read binary in 128 bit chunks. i also have dual processors and the OS for Mac is based on Unix, which is the only thing that can utilize dual processors correctly. PC's with dual processors overload the one processor and the second processor pick up the rest. Mac's give both processors the same work load.

thanks, everybody, for your replies. i especially liked the cyberpowers website, cuz i can get a very decent system there for under $700. although i'm now very tempted to get a mac with dual processors, if i ever get myself a digital video camera :P

my advice to anyone buying a new pc is to buy 3 or 4 computer mags and read the reviews they give different systems, and new grahpics cards, motherboards etc and use these reviews to deciede who your going to deal with.

What you'd be looking at is 2 possible options:

    1. You can buy "off the shelf pc's" - ones pre-constructured, but they usually make a great deal out of some parts, and leave you in the dark on others, especially graphics and sound cards. Or if you're happy with a setup on display, just buy it without the parts you dont need.

    2. Come up with specific parts needed, including size, brand etc... then ask the store to build it for you - this would be the more expensive way, but you'll get what you want.

Or just stick with ze old beast

If you want to get separate parts, but dont know which to get, post details on what you'll need your new pc to do, im sure some people in here can recommend appropriate parts.
