ummm...i bump trance in my car everytime i drive...so if you drove past my car while i was bumping trance...you're gonna worry that trance has become mainstream? okay so who exactly has the right to bump trance in their car which will wont mean trance is commercialized?

very right, just because someoen pumps trance in the car, doesnt mean it is mainstream, maybe it means they like it alot, but who gives a fuck, i mean, remember, its just music, if you like it, then who cares who else listens to it.

I don't see where I stated that no one has a right to listen to trance. I'm also pretty sure I said i'd worry when that happened since not many listen to trance around these parts, it's all hip hop, but nowhere did I say trance was commercialized if someone was pumping it in their car. Thanks for putting words in my mouth though

Trance will not become mainstream in America...period. Most people in this country get bored with anything that deviates from the verse-chorus-verse vocal structure. Instrumental tracks never get anywhere here. Even Robert Miles' "Children", which saw quite a bit of radio play for awhile, I don't believe ever ended up breaking the Top 40.

Europe has always been more opened-minded in terms of musical diversity. Most people I know only like something if its on the radio or MTV

My friends are like that too. They always say" Well if it's on the radio or TV, then it's gotta be good right? Plus, most of my friends just bash raves and the whole electronic culture.

i'm addicted to trance a 6-7 years now -- actually have to agree -- the great part of trance tracks has not a great quality and u can call it commercial because it's easy made [or with cheesy vocals] and so also liked by *normal* people --- there are good tracks but they are really hard to find !!! ---

Ok Nadi time to respond. :P Well, as far as trance becoming popular in the USA won't change it much. Just because something is popular does not bring down the quality in the production / mix. If it ever did start becoming popular in the USA, it would not stick on. Half the country is sucked up into the pop-culture listening to rap and pop just because it's popular. If trance did become as popular as that commercial rap you hear in the USA, I would not give a shit at all. For one, I don't like trance. And second as long as the productions don't turn into shit like ATB, Alice Deejay and such, why complain? Meh...

god forbid should trance be mainstream, then it will lose all of its dignity like all the other mainstream genres of music have... alternative rock, hip-hop, country, pop, & rnb.

Frankly however, I doubt trance will ever stoop so low as to place several songs on TRL, although it would be a welcome relief from the barrage of crap released in the name of music today.

Is it not ignorant to judge someone based on his music, or to judge a group of people based on the musical prefrences of a select few? :P

In all seriousness though, a lot of the music that everyone dismisses, as crappy trl shit, is still awful popular, yet some of us can't stand it. It's exactly the same way with electronic music, it's incredibly popular in some area's yet some people generalize it and write it off right away. It's amazing how those situations are so similar :P

I guess what I wanted to say, but couldnt really figure out how to say it is that there's nothing wrong with trance or anything else being comercial, and that people need to stop justifying what they listen to as commercial or non-comercial, and just enjoy it.

Also why does everyone hope that trance never becomes popular in the u.s? If it stays in its current form, yet becomes more popular, than you can watch tv and listen to stuff you like, and there will probably be a lot more good stuff coming out.

you could look at it this way, if the quality of trance nowadays carries over and becomes commercialized. great! then we wouldn't be having "commercial trax suck" arguments anymore. heh. i mean how great would it be to have the general public LOVING the quality of trance we here @ tranceaddict uphold?

it'd fooking rule.

i agree with this comment, however, my main fear is that people would expect the same thing all the time, thus turning anything that is produced later considered 'cheese' (i.e. Ian Van Dahl)
