look, for some people. Mainly religious ones, they need a religious justification for it. Israel has a religious justification for its modern exsistance.
For others they like legal or realisitc arguments. Israel has one of these as well, as it was established by the UN from territory of the possesion of the UK.

Like it or not, religion is very deeply rooted in just about any political system.
Take the U.S. for example; 90% (I can't remember the source sorry) of Americans believe in a 'God' or something spiritually higher than themselves.
For a government to ignore that, is to their own demise.
Blaming religion is mute since it's such a grassroots decision.

I think that religion is being used as an excuse to justify their cause because many people beleive it and therefor think its the right way to go about their cause...but i think its deeper than that...
