it's a melbourne thing
More of an "American" thing I'd say.
Phat pants, visors, backwards baseball caps, basketball singlets and so on have all been taken from the American rave scene. It's kinda worrying how many Melbourne clubbers look like they've just stumbled out of a barnyard rave scene in Buttfuck Idaho to be honest..... :-/
Having said that, I've got nothing against phat pants. I don't like visors, but phat pants are okay. Whatever floats your boat I guess.

I agree with dudikoff. I think phat pants are pretty stupid though. However, they add to the night. Imagine if you went to two tribes and everyone was wearing the same sort of stuff, no club bunnies to perv and laugh at, no kandy ravers to make things interesting. Personally i think they add to the night, give it a funner feel.
Im quite a fan of denimn baggy pants though.

I don't wear "phat pants", but I don't mind seeing them worn by others. I'm glad that they express their enthusiasm for the culture in the form of fashion. Fluoro colours add a bit of eye candy to the scene.
People are free to wear what they want to, whatever makes them happy.
It's just a bit of fun.
Fashion shouldn't be taken too seriously.
What's in your head is more important.

I don't mind phat pants I just hate the overstated ones.
I wouldn't mind some big ass denim ones.....but nay to the fluro/relfective/zip/fuzz mayhem
It's the combination, if you saw me wearing them you'd probably hardly notice, but if you saw someone else with their huge colourful LOOK AT MY PANTS FOO pants + visor + whatever other crap you would notice
the clothes reflect the person, but it's the combination.
Maybe we should throw candi raverz off the cliff, but keep their pants.
Then they'll be off a cliff...and have no pants :P

Can't stand the over-the-top 'look at me! i'm sooo fucking hardcore' fluro/zipper/whatever shite that people attach to their asses. To me it screams NEWBIE. I may be wrong, and that may be a generalisation, but thats the way i see it. Particularly those who choose to wear them out as their 'normal' clothing, like going shopping and stuff. I should ask one:
Me: What sound are ya into?
Clueless #1: Techno!
Me: Techno the genre?
Clueless #1: Whats a 'genre'? Is that a song? Its all techno doof doof isn't it?
Me: Go away.
The denim ones i can stand, wouldn't wear them myself.
And i fvcking hate those visor shit. Its not sunny and if it was, ya head is still gettin cooked. Are you playing poker? Then take that thing off!!
