i'm glad you like.. i'm one of the few people who don't like it, i mentioned above that the knobs are too skinny, and i'm just not accustomed to the functionality of the thing. i'm not saying its a bad mixer, it is a great mixer, just not for me. also, i need a 4th channel. does vestax make a 4ch mixer that is equivalent to this in price and value?

That's really cool to hear.
I stumbled upon turntablism in 9th grade, and have wanted to get into it ever since...about the same time, I started listening to trance, techno and house as well. Put the two together...hehehe.
Last year(freshman year of college) I had some "spare" moeny from scholarships...mind you that I could save this scholarship for rent and book money, or personal spending money. Found a used 1200 on ebay for 350, blew my money on that, and second semester got the rest of my scholarship and bought another used 1200 for 400 on ebay as well.
Last year, my friend who spins visited and lended me his American DJ mixer...I still don't have enough money to get my own mixer, because I've been spending it on records, lol! I've grown to love my friend's ADJ mixer and am most comfortable with it...my other friends have high end boxes like the DJM 5 and 600s, but I find myself mixing the best with my trusty old American DJ.
It's how you use your equipment....not how much you have of it.
Best of luck in the future.

dJohn, i like your attitude, you will get fair in whatever venture your life leads you on as long as you can make due w/ the best that you've got. ya kno i started spinning not too long ago, maybe almost 2.5-3 years (but only consistantly for about 2yrs), and anyways i started out w/ belt drives and i couldn't believe how hard spinning was and kinda got frustrated w/ it and thats y i stopped. then i tried to pick it back up again, starting getting passed my temper (i get mad when i can't do something no matter how hard i try) and eventually got the knack of it all. then went out and got my USED tables (yah i wish i could afford brand new ones) and the dj i bought them from was nice enough to give me the ADJ mixer for free cuz i said i only had this crappy 2ch mixer that consisted of a 2 gain knobs and an xfader. yah once i got the 1200s i thought mixing was cakewalk, direct drive was soo easy, i couldn't believe i wasted my time w/ belts. but u kno wat, u can't help your situation and as long as u do wat you can w/ wat u've got, then ur doing it right and ur doing it true. now i'm not gonna talk smack about these kids here who have parents to buy them brand new 1200s and a vestax mixer for their 15th birthday cuz sheit, i would love to have that for my bday but im not that lucky; however, i think sometimes its hard for them to understand that expensive equipment doesn't = talent. as a matter of fact, a dj thats also a college buddy of mine had belt drives all throughout school, and i always asked him y he never got techs and he just said "i can't afford 'em and besides, the clubs always got ur techs for u" and that is true. he can mix just as well on the shittiest pair of belt driven decks as most can w/ there industry standard 1200s, and then when he gets behind the techs, he flies.. and all the same he is not ashamed to say that he uses belt drive decks at home. i know this probably isn't the right thread for me to go on about this, but it just doesn't make sense to me sometimes when i see these posts by ppl that are just starting out and they inquiring about getting pioneer cdj1000 which cost about the price of 2 techs each, and there are tons of cd decks that will serve the majority of you just fine for probably 75% less.. unless of course you guys are fortunate enough to be given these types of things w/o paying for it yourself, i mean, i'm not a race car driver but if someone offered me a porche i'll take it.. and for those of you who are gonna say "i worked all summer long flipping burgers to by my cdj1000s so fuck you" all i have to say is that were they necessary and you could have spent 75% of that money on CDs. blah im going off on a tangeant, anyone who is reading this, bottom line, if ur gonna spin on TT's, get techs, fuck the belt drive cuz u don't have to be a hero, but as far as mixers go, beginners don't need a djm600 or a Xone62, spend the bux on building a bombass record collection cuz that will take u farther than an expensive mixer ever will.

Don't overlook the Behringer DX1000 either. I got mine a month ago and it was one of the best investments I have ever made. Has 3 Band and XLR's and plenty of channels for your cd decks and TT's with some leftover. I got mine for $159 from Musicians Friend.

Dont be afraid to look into it as an alternative.

what the heck.. i wrote a long ass reply last night about the djm600 and now its not here, oh well.. ok so basically i've been doing some thinking and i've narrowed down my selection to a few choices: pioneer djm3000 ($750), Denon dn-x400 ($399), stanton rm-80 ($299), stanton rm-50 ($269) i don't really see any difference between the rm80 and rm50 so if my choice is left between those 2, i'd prolly go w/ the rm50, ... so if anyone has any knowledge or experience on any of these mixers.. please let me kno
