My gu013 just arrived

I own a signed copy of nubreed 4
GU LIGHTS OUT 1
GU 011
GU 013
GU 014
GU 015
GU 023

Tho most companies are suffering and I don't believe it's exactly to do with mp3's. Some companies have made bad business decisions and some just don't know how to market themselves effectively. Most ppl running companies like this are not trained business people. It's not the fucking end...many companies are having a tough time period in the rough financial climate of most of the world. Most of South America has been in a recession for a time, some parts of asia have been in recession for a while. You could blame mp3's for some of the financial losses but the global economic climate is not great.

Nooooo... This may not happen and it won't, period

Actually I heard a rumour about that their loss of money can be related to spending too much cash on cocaine, but that's only a rumour.

Well, I hope that GU will get huge success with their next albums, such as Nick Warren: Reykjavík and Deep Dish: "Insert city here" amd grow even stronger, be optimistic

Yeah I agree. Lately the mp3-excuse has been used too frequently, it lost credibility. As a matter of fact I would have never heared of/bought any prog. cd if it hadn't downloaded mp3s.
Im a proud owner of the following GU'S
Nubreed 5
GU 9
GU 11
GU 13
GU 14
Gu 16
GU 18
GU 23

hm..i guess it depends on the city. When i was in amsterdam, every cd store was packed with those covers with grinning supserstar dj's and city backgrounds

GU had few gems - Seb Fontaine; Sasha wasn't too bad either and Dep Dish in Moscow was cool. The rest was more like "Ughhh... ok"

Hell, few GU's albums have been perfect Double Eject material. Unlistenable. Digweed - one of them... Ugh, how did that guy manage to take #3DJ in the world spot is beyond me... I mean he's a great mixer, granted, but his charsima factor is below zero. Sorry, but that is just my humble opinion.

Anyway.. GU gone under??? So, you'll still get your tunes for free of the net... I mean after all, all GU did was record sets from different cities by different DJs. Sounds like a perfect business model - what's the investment in that effort??? Obviously someone in there was keeping friends with Charles <<<<>>>> I'm sure MoS would have no problem taking a newly vacated spot.

Peace.

Even if it does go under its not that big a deal IMO. Its just a label, the DJs will find some other label to release on. Sure I own a few GUs but they wouldn't be missed that much.

Lame to hear the news, though...there've been some great GU's. I still listen to the first disc of GU:013 quite often, and have the vinyls for a few of the others, as well.
I'd like to see them diversify a little more - James Lavelle was a decent start, Hybrid next maybe?
