What the crowd likes.

But then, you should only be playing to a crowd who you know will like what you like.

So what you like.

ok, here's my view:

1- if your a uknown dj play what the crowd likes
2- if your a famous dj play what you like, cause eventually everyone will like it

I feel you should play what you like. If you have good taste, then the crowd will also like what you like. Being unique and up-to-date is also very important.

Adjust your set to the crowd if you wanna keep the energy up or bring it down, but I don't think you should adjust your set too much as to spin something you don't like.

depends on the crowd really. Some crowds will expect you to play exactly the same shti u played last week, and if u try something new, they dont know whats going.. and that sux.
but usually i like to play alot of nu shit every week.. so im not sure wether the crowd likes it or not. but if they do they do if they dont.. i stil get paid

you start with what the crowd wants and once you get them all bumpin it, you go into more of what you like. if you can't get the crowd in tune to your tracks, you will always be just an average deejay (but obviously, i don't mean playing metal to a techno crowd, etc.).

if you just play what the crowd wants, you might as well tell them to get a fucking jukebox.
