lmao, obviously you have never witnessed how bad djs can get. Flight must be 1st class. Hotel must be a suite, extras such as food, alcohol, drugs, girls (yes they do ask) among other things can hit the tens of thousand. Oaky alone runs his expenses up to almost 20k just on airfare (1st class), hotel penthouse, limo to and from the club and airport, special food in his room, extras he builds into the contract, believe me it costs a lot more to get them here. Ask Dave marvisi, he wont even bring the german djs because it costs too much, I know, I have asked.

Sometimes a DJ does need to take the Concorde to get from one gig to the next, especially between US and Europe, with the time lost by the time difference.

This happened after that Air France Concorde accident that took all the other planes out of commission for a year and a half. (btw, that's not me )

it's business...if a DJ is considered "the best," then that DJ must be treated like "the best." It's more than just being paid over 50G's for a silly little thing such as DJing...it's how you get treated that will leave the lasting impression on all parties involved...

now that's the first and easiest headache...now you gotta sell a US festival to about 30 of the biggest names in electronica...i totally respect the people at Ultra for pulling it off and i wish godspeed to anyone with the balls to pull another one off here

i dont think its a matter of getting to the states and spinning but its about how many people would show. in europe trance is well recognized (to the point where trance is a catagory at the european music awards). in the states there are a lotta trance listeners but it's not as wide spread as it is in europe. basically why throw a huge ass rave like trance enery, white&black edition, and mayday in the states when you can throw it in europe with a guaranteed packed audience. but if i could throw my own party... goddamn... it would be a siiick lineup... starts with ferry, then armin, and then ends with a bang with pvd.. muhahaaa.. anyhoo~ theres my 2 cents on the topic :P hehe

Not only that, but I highly doubt NYC would ever grant the license to have it indoors, especially with the nightlifr crackdown going on in NYC as it is. You def. cant compare Trance Energy and Sensation to anything else. Holland is totally different. Trance is pretty much mainstream there and therefore they can easily sell 50-60 thousand tickets before line-ups are even announced. Dance Valley sold out months before anyone knew who was spinning. Here that would never happen, its just a different way of life over there. I wish it were like that here, but I guess as long as we have eminem and J.Lo as our chart leaders we will have to stick to making the trips to Europe

Well said and I agree. for new years i flew under the radar and went to Amsterdam with tickets to Qontact at the Hieneken Music Hall(for anyone unfamilar ask anyone in the dutch forums). there were so many ppl it was SICK. Anyway the point is this, i think its impossible to throw a party here on that scale. Massive, and i mean MASSIVE-sound/attendence/vibe/lineup(sortof-jon the dentist, johan geilen, DJ Astrid-stole the night nice ONE!!!) just not enoughattention and acceptence of electronic music.
However in saying that, I hope ppl don't get to discouraged and keep trying to throw massives with trance, or any genre, ALLSTARS( PVD Tiesto, Armin, Corsten etc etc...). I gotta believe that someone other than ultra or god forbid park rave madness(haha i can't believe i just said) can successfully pull it off. But don't hold your breath.

PAZ

how do they do it in Amsterdam? Do the DJ's charge less? If it was made into a big event here, it would draw more than the trance regulars. Can almost never get a good back to back DJ night here. Just the main DJ, and an opening talent.

Oh well.... Just wishfull thinking.

The reason y they do it in amsterdanm is cause its a way of life there. Its the thing to do......not like here were a select few (thank god for us) attend.......oh well.
