They have tried this numerous times in The states and it has yet to work. Mecca, Creamfields, Ultra NYC 2002. NOne of then have ever worked. There is just not enough interest in Electronica here for it to ever work. Creamfields last year didnt even sell 3,000 tickets, they needed at least 10,000 sold to pay the djs. Not only that, but I highly doubt NYC would ever grant the license to have it indoors, especially with the nightlifr crackdown going on in NYC as it is. You def. cant compare Trance Energy and Sensation to anything else. Holland is totally different. Trance is pretty much mainstream there and therefore they can easily sell 50-60 thousand tickets before line-ups are even announced. Dance Valley sold out months before anyone knew who was spinning. Here that would never happen, its just a different way of life over there. I wish it were like that here, but I guess as long as we have eminem and J.Lo as our chart leaders we will have to stick to making the trips to Europe |
Well said and I agree. for new years i flew under the radar and went to Amsterdam with tickets to Qontact at the Hieneken Music Hall(for anyone unfamilar ask anyone in the dutch forums). there were so many ppl it was SICK. Anyway the point is this, i think its impossible to throw a party here on that scale. Massive, and i mean MASSIVE-sound/attendence/vibe/lineup(sortof-jon the dentist, johan geilen, DJ Astrid-stole the night nice ONE!!!) just not enoughattention and acceptence of electronic music.
However in saying that, I hope ppl don't get to discouraged and keep trying to throw massives with trance, or any genre, ALLSTARS( PVD Tiesto, Armin, Corsten etc etc...). I gotta believe that someone other than ultra or god forbid park rave madness(haha i can't believe i just said) can successfully pull it off. But don't hold your breath.
