Half of them are placebos and the other half totally fuck with your mind. I guess if you're in a really bad state of mind, it might offer some respite... but I think it's more important to really try to deal with the issues that are at the root of the problem, rather than trying to take the quick and easy, but ultimately less satisfying and more expensive, solution.
My brother was diagnosed with depression four years ago. Since then, he's been on Prozac, Zoloft, and now, Celexia. None of them have had any substantial impact on his condition, and he absolutely hates taking them. These medications might be good for correcting a simple chemical imbalance, but I think most depressed people won't find them to be a permanent answer to their hopes and dreams of a better life.
