i didnt think you could develop asthma

my understanding is that asthma is just inflammation of the airways that cause them to swell, thus leading to 'wheezing' or coughing etc.

depends on ur allergic reactions to the cat, i mean if ur reactions are mild, such as sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes etc, then i dont think you should worry about one day getting a huge asthma attack.

having said this, i'm not a doctor, i dont study medicine, perhaps someone who does could help.

knowledge = power.

My girlfriend (she's also on this forum : TatanaGirl) is allergic to cats and she has one at her home (like you). She developed asthma over the years and it's pretty sure that that cat-allergy caused it. She'll probably post something here to explain it better. I think you run a serious risk of developing asthma just like her.

I'm also allergic of cats, and I got asthma from it. So it is definetly possible! I started with a mild reaction from cats, it got worse and worse! I started to get really short of breath somethimes! I went to my doctor and he said it was a sort of ashtma and it was caused by my allergie. So be very carefull, stay away from the cat as much as possible. It maybe hard but it's the only way to keep your health! I'm telling you having asthma is really tuff and scary! Good luck to you and if you have any more questions, just whisle
