Totoally Agree..If you are gonna spend 200-300 on a cheaper deck..why not save another 100 or so to buy a tech...you will not regret spending the extra money on it. And once u get it..you dont have to worry about selling your old decks just to replace it with techs eventually. As for mixer..I started with the DJM 300 and still have it. It is definately adequate for beginners learning beatmatching and the basics of mixing. I am probably gonna replace it once I have mastered beatmatching flawlessly and have money to spend on a nice mixer and a dope sound system...or else a nice mixer would just go to waste without kick ass sound right?

Not sure about your local stores, but might want to try Long & McQuade. I didn't purchase from them locally because the sales guy was a dipshit, but their financing was pretty decent, and veeeerry simple to obtain.

They looked for me to put down about 20%, and pay the rest off over a year, which was fairly reasonable. Ended up purchasing at another local store, because the sales guy wasn't as much of a dipshit.

Well, I was actually giving some consideration to buying a hard record case that's nearly identical to the one on the ION site. Heck, it may even be exactly the same case, I'll have to take another look at it next week.

As for the rest of the equipment, I think you need to be very careful what type of gear you spend your money on. I've never even heard of that company before, and I shudder to think of what their turntables might be like.

The smaller integrated CD players + mixer combo looks interesting, though a few things do stick out. The all-in one "digital station" doesn't have EQ on each channel, only EQ on the master output. Bad.

I really don't know what to tell you, without sounding harsh. I think that if you're going to get into this stuff, it's nearly all or nothing, with some exceptions. You might want to start playing around with various computer mixing programs first, as it's a hell of a lot cheaper to start out with, and you can avoid the potential regret down the road if you decide that you aren't as interested in it as you thought you were.

I would recommend Mixmeister to begin with, there are also other programs out there. Mixmeister can really help you to develop your "ear" for mixing, though you don't do most of the mixing in "real-time" like you would on turntables.

Talking I will make people talk!!!

Don't forget to consider the Vestax PDX 2000!

I bought them a while ago and Im very satified with them.

They might not have the 25 years of experience that the 1200 have but thats what they have more:

- Faster star/stop
- +/- 60% pitch
- reverse
- straight torn arm (it has good and bad side)
- feed less!! (and thats fucking important if use them for parties)
- start and brake speed control
- lighter (they weight about 10-15 lb)
- they are ugly compared to the 1200
- motor stronger (good and bad side)

and thats all I can think of for now!

So guy, im waiting for you complaint!

but I like my Vestax!

Mat
