I've never seen Tiesto, but i have seen PVD live. He was incredible and i really like his music better so PvD > Tiesto.

Tiesto rocks!!!!

Its just that PvD rocks more!

Seriously though i saw them both in new york last year within like a month. when i left tiesto i was like "i now have a new favorite dj!"
Then after seeing PvD i said "well paul's my man again"

err... listen to PvD's set @ athens Greece & cry

Paul spins some hardtrance, and other sorts of trance at a high bpm so that's why he is more loved by the crowd. When you have energy inside you and want it to get out, you go @ a PvD event.

When you want to get more l337 you go to Tiesto events so that you have a less energetic set (according to the last ones).

Tiesto has a "darker" style than PvD while PvD has a "happier" style. When i say style, i mean both performing live and producing.

Everyone is free to choose, but for a person that is deeply into trance and knows that PvD made the first steps into the scene with "another way" and "tell me why (the riddle)" gives more respect to a dutch guy that his homelands are the country of trance (meaning Tiesto).

Also if someone listens to trance for his first time, he would prefer PvD because he is more melodic & emotional than Tiesto which is "harder" and "deeper".

that's my point of view

That's why we can't compare these two, their styles differ.

Both have their disadvantages and advantages..

In Production they both do well, usually they both release good songs that fill our trance addiction cravings, but sometimes they produce CRAP..

I mean i never liked PVD ages ago but after hearing his set in IBIZA, AMNESIA and is remix of Ghostland then i like him now....

Tiesto is the same, sometimes he releases good songs, sometimes not..

In the DJing Department i think Tiesto wayyyyy better at mixing, and i mean WAYYYYYYYY!

I like them both, they are just different. I think Paul's music is generally more danceable. As far as mixing goes, I think Paul's Amnesia 2002 set is one of the most well-mixed trance sets I've heard.

I think PvD is a little more picky about his selections. I like the tracks Tiesto plays, but sometimes it just seems he is throwing them down with much thought about how they will go together and continue the flow of the set.

It's just personal preference really. The only thing I know from my experience is that Paul's livesets are much more energetic.

*EDIT* By the way, name me some of the progressive tracks the Tiesto has been playing recently. I saw Tiesto play and then right after him Digweed came on, and I can tell you they were NOT playing the same kind of stuff all. I mean, I know Digweed's prog is a bit more on the Tribal side, but still, it was not even close.
