I think that all genres will fuse and all the boundaries will become so blurred that genre definition will be next to impossible.

Just look at the current boundaries within 'progressive'
Tech-house
deep-house
tech-trance
progressive trance
deep-trance (is a genre honest!!)

Where does one genre begin and another end???

I think this will be the case with all dance music. BUT if more genres develop then maybe more boundaries will be created.

personally i am starting to like prog and starting to dislike the happier trance, of course there is always exceptions. i just emjoy the beat of prog, and the breaks a lot of the time.

i think what he meant to say was that he didn't mind 16 year olds at a party IF they like and understand the music. i dont think there is anything worse than seeing some crackhead teenager passed out in the corner from too many drugs, knowing that was his whole intent and purpose of going to that 'party.' granted it takes to time to learn about the music and the scene i think there has to be somewhat of a passion towards in and a love for the music for the whole scene to shift less towards drugs (even though it will never happen) and more towards a love of music and/or dancing.

That trance'n'bass CD may have been a bit commercial, but it reminded us of something we had forgotten: there are alternatives. There's no need to separate genres as purists usually do, because they evolve as we split and re-combine them

It all goes in a circle ... don't know how many of you remember the devastatingly hard tracks that used to be played beginning - mid 90s ... well things seem to be turning to that direction now, many producers are leaning towards the hard techy style resembling oldschool European techno. I'd say this will be the sound of the next few years now that superclub culture is slowly fading into oblivion (and with it a lot of fluff cheese trance) and giving way to the underground anti-commercial parties.

I see how many people would be nostalgic towards the tracks they know and like (see flufftrance remark) but this is becomming too much of a good thing. If your taste and preferences don't evolve you'll end up being stuck in a rut and getting bored of the music you listen to ... so give some other styles a chance, see if you feel any of the new music coming out even if it's not exactly something you know you like ... and I'm guessing that's where most producers are going to right now, experimenting with new sounds and trying to break out of a rut dance music seems to be stuck in right now.

Can't wait to see what the next little while will bring.

Yeah that's what i tried to say, these days you most of the time see people on a party who don't know nothing about the DJ OR the music, they're just in the club or at the party to get drunk, use drug etc etc.

I wonder how parties are in country's like the usa and poland etc etc

Another thing, i hear a lot of people talking negative about the newest trance tracks etc, but i don't agree on that.
Just check songs like southern sun etc etc, they are sooooo emotional!!!
ofcourse, stuff like age of love is something classic but the songs of these days are much more emotional, more adulted... im really happy with it!

Im going to the Tiesto's solo concert on the 10th of May, im wondering what styles he will play there... i hope he will take us back into the time and then ends with quality stuff like he produced on his album in my memory...

i personally think that music will get harder and harder, or deeper and deeper. I disagree that techno will die soon, it will spawn into sumthing else..... still contaINING techno elements... but combining other elements too. perhaps sum sort of hybrid techno/epic trance type thing <<< that cud be one future genre, also on the harder side of things, as more and more instruments r being created, and discovering new sounds thats stimulate the brain, theres no telling what cud we be listening to.

i often think about what music will be like in 10 years time. there was no way of telling that the acid basslines in 88 and 89 would turn into sumthing soooooo immmense as what we listen to now from the very sa,e machine that sumone created years ago.

at the end of the day, i feel that, music has no boudaries as long as there are ppl out there with brand new ideas on how to 'thrash the fuck' out of a machine or instrument and use it to its potential.

what was happy hardcore 6 years ago.. has now transformed into a form of fast paced euphoric hard trance. sum would like to call it 'trance-core', but to me trance-core emerged around 5-6 years ago, and sounds a little different from what i am hearing now in what used to be seen as a hardcore club/rave.


i recently went to a (ex?) harcore event...... to find that one of the pioneers of happy hardcore DJ Sy, was blasting out a the last setof the night, at 200+ bpm euphoric hard trance, but i tell you now, it was fucking good.

i guess my message is.... as long as there are innovative producers out there, there IS NO telling what kind of music we will be listening to in months/years to come, so sit back and enjoy the ride baby woooooooooooohooooooooo (<<<

I live in Brazil, where rave parties became mainstream and I assure you: it's not much different. Some people go for the music, some people go because it's a trend, and some people go to use drugs... in fact, media and e-tards together can destroy the scene - in my city, a newspaper published a poll asking people if raves should be banned, after 5 reports about od's and police finding ecstasy.

I wonder why 80% of the people who voted in the poll were agains raves

i have very strong views on the relationship between drugs and dance music...... wether you like it or not, id say a great part of dance musics evolution is due to drugs.. hell... even the birth of it was due to drugs. The only downfall is, that narrowminded people cant see past the fact that clubdrug usage is classed as drug taking, you can ask any drug taking person on this forum (i for one), and they will tell you that the ppl that ruin the scene r the drunkards.

i will admit right now that i take drugs when i am in club, not cos i find it hard to appreciate music without them, but all forms of trance are a mind bending, and drugs help to enhance the feeling of love and euphoria that the music gives off.
i said it before and ill say it again.... drugs r part of the birth of club culture, and i wuould much rather it die from clubs being shut down from drug usage, than it die from the shit atmosphere that the lager louts create in a club. any drug taking, music loving human being will tell you that.

Hell.... you think acid trance has gotten the way it has thru straight headed non drug taking producers..... i think not drugs always has been, and always will be a major part of musics evolution, and as long as it continues, newer forms of music will continue to stretch the mind of the listener, and take tham thru more and more boundaries

I think breakbeat is going to get huuuuuuuge!! There are more and more tunes coming out that have breaks, even Sasha uses em alot. I personally don't mind em and actually like them at times. I will always be a fan of the 4/4, but breaks can do it for me at the right time!
