I wouldn't say it's dying but it's definently declining. hopefully it will go more under ground cos it's far to commercialised rite now what with the gatecrasher compilations coming out every second month and the like. I see a huge increase in the popularity of techno tho'. I think this is cos' the quality is much higher just now than trance is.

I totally no what u mean about the r&b scene. it's the same up here in glasgow. far too many wiggers around for my liking.

Down here they don't play trance on the radio very much but some DJ's spin here. Basically in my area people won't think trance is cool until other people do regardless of wether they like it or not, like mindless drones

In my area it seems like trance is growing because one of the biggest radio station that plays hip hop/RNB/pop/ballad is now starting to play trance and also opened up a weekly trance club. But they play alot of cheesy trance so im not saying its a good thing.

We used to have a Hardcore/Trance/Techno/Euro-House radio station a few years ago then it turned into a Dance radio station with a hardcore and a trance program. And now they're playing rnb, lounge, house and dance on it
It hate the extreme commercialisation of the music industry.

Dying my ass. Do any of you retards read magazines or pay attention at all to the news? or even probably your own scene? Trance went down but its building back up. The reason is because of trendy people making crappy trendy music, like "Castles in the Sky" and any dj sammy shit. Which therefor, makes people think.. all trance is like that. Anyway, just take a look at the TOP 10. Its growing, again and Im glad to be a part of it. DNB seems to be heading the way though, alot of people think that "DNB is cool" and that "Trance is gay". Fuck that. and fuck them

peace
-Andrew

You see it with almost every kind of music genre. They come and go in waves.

Look at rock for an example, it was huge in the early 60's and then it was overcome by the disco movement throughout the 70's. Which then gave way to the New Wave craze of the early-mid 80's. Then in the the early 90's there was two movements Rock and Rap which followed us through today in which I think trance/electronica will begin to take over. (You kinda see it already with many many rock groups, almost all of rap, and pop singers all looking to electronics to make thier sounds.)

Now I do believe that trance/electronica really started back during the disco scene. Which then turned into trance/electronica... so I guess I'm saying disco's not dead....

Well ok maybe it is

I think you would have to experience the scene here in the u.k. first. don't forget that the electronic scene here was peaking round about 1998 wheras in the u.s and places like it, where hip hop was always more popular, it's still in it's growth stages. this is why so many top dj's are trying to break into the american scene at the moment.

yes! and i can imagien that will have been due to mp3 spreading trance to other parts of the world like america, yet the industry still tries to shun mp3. talk about biting the hand that feeds you!
