definately dont do that... reboots are healthy for you computer, kinda like sleep is healty for humans. Like drizz said, it dumps ram and also stops random runnign processes that didnt quit. The list goes on.

Great Idea... I always think for some reason that XP doesn't have cmsconfig....I guess it's because I think XP=NT which =no msconfig

If you know how to, go into your registry and delete all those programs you don't need from starting up. Makes a ton of a differnce.

xp has msconfig. U also would like to edit the services that windows load that u dont need. it helps alot or u can get a 7200rpm HD wiht 8MB cache like me. my take like 20 sec to boot with nothing loaded except for NAV03 and drivers
For some reason Windows XP now takes a whole minute to even think about loading, whereas a few months ago it used to boot to the desktop within 30 seconds (and that's before I upgraded my CPU).
Anyway, if you want to avoid rebooting you should check out a handy program called FreeRAM XP. You can set it to stay in your system tray so that when you feel that your computer is getting a bit sluggish, you can clear out all the crap that clogs up yer RAM.

Registry editing is pretty risky though....especially deleting stuff

I am a nerd.
WinXP should not have any memory leaks. From what I know (which is not that much), WinXP has protected memory, that means that it keeps track of what memory each process can access and when u terminate the process it will free that Ram. Of course, if you have some processes that don't terminate.. it is a different thing.
