I don't think they would just crossfade a song because they can't mix, half the time these DJ's are playing RnB & 'Dance' therefore they have no option but to crossfade certain songs, switching the two styles OR if the DJ want's to let the crowd hear the opening of the track.
As for the "It's who you know not what you know." yes part of that is true, an average bedroom dj could be much more skilled then the resident dj at your local club. But SOME (note how i said SOME) bedroom dj's expect gigs do just be given to them without making an effort to put their name out.

they hear scooter on the radio, and they like it. so they like the dj when he plays it. people say they are uneducated, scooter is what they think trance is. but is it? scooter is what they think popular dance music is. if u went up to them and said "do u think this is trance?" they would probably stare at you with a blank face. if you go to a popular nightclub or pub, expect to hear commercial dance and rnb. you might think "eww this is shit music" but its what the crowd wants and likes.
why is it ultra shitty and a disgrace to electronic music? your tastes are different to what the place caters for. that doesn't make you any better than them. sure sometimes i laugh at scooter, but thats what it is to me. a laugh, something made for fun, dance music thats easy for people to get into. most people who get into trance and progressive house etc start off liking this style. i know i did. darude - sandstorm was the first dance music cd i bought.
you should know what to expect when you go to these places. dont bag them just because your taste in electronic music differs to theirs.
its not that, the entire fact is that are not their to enjoy the music ! they are their to start fights and make idiots of themselves I could understand if they went there to listen to the music but their not, so that is why I bag their musical preference
