Nah I believe that one's taste for music shouldn't matter. Ofcourse there is a somewhat artificial natural selection ( ) as for example a total rnb-chick wouldn't even think of looking at someone who is totally not rnb and vice versa.
My ex-girlfriend happened to only like rnb though and I hated it but we got along fine. A realtion is build upon respect and how you feel when your together.

BWAHAHAHHA....at the avatar porky. ONE CRAZY ASS WOMAN!.....

anyway, I think love conquers all and goes above the music you listen to. My criteria for dating ppl is not whether they like trance, if they do, it's great but if they don't...no big deal.

The amount of guy:girls who like trance is a little heavy on the guy side...if i was that picky, i think i'd be single for a lot longer than one could hope.

I would date a girl who didn't like trance, but then it would be nice if she did simply for the fact that she would go dancing with you at the club...

The ideal girl is one who likes trance, but because you turned her on to it, and she starts to listen to it even when you're not there, but doesn't share your obsession so that you can have the superior knowledge... and keep turning her on to new things.

(I love run-on sentences)

maybe you being single is b/c of the fact that you have a slight drinking problem!

he did not say that. He just said that if a person dislikes music that you enjoy and you are passionate about music - as I assume many people here are - it may be a factor that decides that (s)he isn't worth it.

Little scenario here:
You both are at your pimping pad and have just had all the fun in the world cooking supper, now you move over to the living room and want to eat. Now you need to find some music to go with it. As a natural Tranceaddict, you put on "Cafe del Mar - Volumen seis" since it is nice chillout music to go with cocktails and drinks. The problem is she doesn't like music and would rather pump the jam with Jam'n 94.5 fm (some .. radio station)... so there is an inherent conflict.
One of you has to budge, every time.
If she loves rap and you love trance, than it says a lot about who you are, provided that you are serious about liking music, not like these 20 gazillion wanna be trance lovers who worship DJ Jan Wayne..

Maybe I define myself and other people in diferent ways than you, but i think music is such an emotionally powerful way to express oneself that it does tell a lot about who you are.

d'accord?

I don't think it should be a deciding factor unless the girl totally doesn't stand trance and you don't stand what she's listening to. But really, that just means that one or both of you is very stubborn and narrow minded, so if music is the problem, that's an indication that one or both of you is a person with which is hard to make compromises. And sooner or later, a situation will appear where you will have to make a compromise or split up.
Anyway, even if you do have different music tastes, as long as you both can bend a little to let the other person listen to what he/she wants without complaining, there should be no problem. It basically all comes down to respect, whether you respect what she's listening to and vice versa. If you both do, you'll get along, and if one of you has a problem with it, that just might be a sign that you might not get along in the future on some other issues as well.

BTG does not have a drinking problem..people with drinking problems go to 12 step meetings ... BTG has a drinking hobby, which he likes to participate in often.

if music us greatly involved in your life then maybe it will make a difference. i could date someone who doesn't listen to the same music as me cause i rarely listen outside of the car.

on the other hand, my boyfriend likes to go to clubs the same as me which makes our weekends really easy cause otherwise we'd have to choose between the thing we really like to do and being with each other. it certaintly wasn't a necessity that we have this in common but it sure helps a lot.
