I still wouldnt kiss ass to get a job. If I want play my shit and the club owner wont let me, then I would probably get a job that will get me a six figure income and then freaking own my nightclub hahahah j/k

I just love trance, and it's simple as that!

you guys are all right but if you don't play the music you love then djing wont be fun anymore, it'll be just like any other job that you do just for the money and not something you do because you love it

P'zazz, I agree 100%. In my earlier post, my intention was to indicate that it's difficult, generally not a good idea and unsuccessful, to "force" your music onto a club. If the club plays one kind of music, then you're inclined to play that yourself, if you spin there.

This doesn't mean, however, that you should "change" your style to adjust to the club. Unless, as P'zazz indicated, you're in for the money. Otherwise, if you spin A and the club doesn't want you to spin A, then quite simply go find another place that will.

We need variety! Don't conform to what others are doing (that includes clubs) - stick to your uniqueness... that way the world will stay exciting.

I'm with you all the way

I have turned down gigs simply because I do not like playing music I do not love and enjoy myself but many other people do that, I don't know how they can stand it

play your own style of music, that way you'll be better and people at the club will have a better time and the club owners will get more money if you hate what you're playing you'll be shite and everybody loses

Umm...the owner OWNS the club.

Think of it this way - imagine you own a car (club) and hand it over to a painter (DJ) who will paint the car (spin a set) as to make it spiffy and cool (make the crowd happy).

Now, according to what you said, the PAINTER would say, "fuck the car owner (club owner), I'll paint the car whatever colour/style I want (spin whatever I want)."

As you can see, this is quite absurd. As the car owner, YOU say what you want the car to look like, not the PAINTER.

Likewise, the club owner decides what will be played in his own damn club, not the DJ.

That's just the way things work.

I don't think you could have said it any better

but arent you missing something? the crowd factor... who is the crowd in your little story (which I believe has a very good point btw)? the club owner may be happy with a certain type of music but the crowd may be satisfied with another.

I don't think it's wise to go against the manager though so I guess the general conclusion from all this, if your not gonna or dont wanna spin what you're supposed to then dont get the fking job cause nobody gains (cept offcoase for your pocket if you dont screw up)
